I just saw DJW take McDonald's AA deyonta Davis to school off the dribble and forced a steal on the other end of the floor. I say try and coach djw into a bad mama jamma of a point forward.

I think that it's important to note that the game against Oakland was their first without Valentine. They've had 2 or 3 games since to adapt. Tonight's MSU is significantly better and more cohesive than against Oakland

Hey the Illini had time to adapt before the UIC game at the United Center. Look how good they looked after the practice time. At some point this can't continue to be pointed at bad luck....

Seriously, though, I can't buy into the negativity surrounding "the state of the program."

We're down. Yes, I get it. But how can you not look at this crop of freshmen and be excited? I really can't wait to see how they grow up as players. And we even have our PG, who continues to be rising stock. Gotta get that 5, though.

One positive is the way Morgan has been taking it to the basket.

Those of us still watching loved it. :thumb:

MH may be our best player, except for tonight, but it seems very clear that KN is the leader.

When you consider there's not a player on Oakland who wouldn't be at Illinois if we offered them a scholarship, they were in a much tougher position.

No lol....in D1 basketball you're good player no matter where you go. You see teams like oakland beating top teams all the time

Coming back tonight looks like it's going to be tougher and tougher as the clock ticks down.

All kidding aside, MSU really wanted this one. The upperclassmen on the team haven't forgotten the last two seasons.

Mav working on a double/double...needs 7 more rebounds.
Man, there are some really funny posts in tonight's game thread. Kinda reminds me of the humor you saw in the goemaw forums after last season's exodus.

Goodness....We are down 30??? I am not watching the game (glad I am not) but wanted to check in and we are down by 30 to a team minus a guy who might be a Wooden award winner or at least a finalist? What would the score be if Valentine was playing? Thank goodness I wasn't able to see the game and will be deleting it from my DVR without viewing. The program isn't in good shape right now. People say we are missing all these starters and it does hurt but who knows what TA brings to this team except toughness and D. LB fouls so much would he even play that many minutes? MT was a 5th year senior stop gap. He was playing well but in the long term how much good does he do to the program? Nunn missing for his kid being born really stinks because he has been tearing it up but he is doing the right thing being there with his son and would he really make a 30 point difference?:(
Goodness we are down 30 to a team missing just one starter. We've been missing 3-4 starters each game ALL YEAR. Go figure.
