A lot of foul calls making a difference doesn’t have much to do with total # of fouls called, it’s all in the timing and momentum. Not sure why some on here are acting like the 2nd half isn’t being majorly dictated by the refs against the Illini (more than the 1st half was dictated for the Illini). Of course we could be playing better and winning despite this… but anyone saying that these calls aren’t a tailwind is wrong. Basketball is such a momentum sport but we’re quantifying equality based off pure #’s?

Well considering they called 3 more fouls on us in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half then they did the first half and the majority of them have been questionable just saying.i really do believe that blown flagrant call changed momentum of this game

And yet, after that whole awful officiating sequence, it is also correct that now the Illini are being outplayed. Vols have swagger and momentum and now they’re playing with a fire in their hearts
