At this point, the strongest defensive team is the 5 frosh with either CoHawk or TSJ. The strongest offensive team is the same as Rogers and DD are the only two who are aggressive at scoring in the paint. Opponents know that the starters are of little threat to score around the hoop.
All one needs to do to beat this Illini team is stay tight on the perimeter and work your tail off to double Dainja when he is in...or hack him. Illini can really defend when focused, but they struggle to score to often. I do not like the offensive sets due to lack of purpose...especially when the purpose is not to be aggressive around the hoop. TSJ can make a huge contribution there if he is more patient, deliberate, and aggressive in getting to the hoop. He gets doubled pretty quickly and shooters become available.
I do not like the offensive threat of the starters who seem to lack purpose. And as soon as I say that, Mayer gets an entry pass and finishes which should be a staple of this group.
