If
2 results from this game, we win great!! we lose, we chalk this up as a success that they even made the tournament, and move onto next season. no way we're beating Kansas anyways
If we somehow win today. All bets are off I would bet we give Kansas a good game. But we obviously have to pull this one out. Cut down on the turnovers and we might.

Right and they save me a bundle from doing something dumb like booking a flight to watch what would be a dismantling

But, didn't we beat Kansas in the preseason scrimmage? How has our team progressed since then? Compare that to Kansas.

At some point, regardless of the number of yearly conference victories, someone is going to have to ask if Brad is the right coach to get this team to the next level. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but as far as the Tournament what has he achieved? Ever since the Loyola fiasco, Illinois has not been competitive when it counts.

The problem is what will change? If it’s we start shooting a bit better and have fewer TOs, great … we’ll make it a game. But this is win or go home!!! The fundamental mental state, body language, outlook, etc. has to change during halftime. It’s depressing sitting here just hoping against hope for that, and you can see it on the faces of the miserable Illini fans they’ve shown on TV, lol. :(
In recent play, we have seen some things change, even for an entire game. Patience, ball security, scoring from the paint, and defensive play have all improved slightly and become more consistent. But it seems impossible for these guys to not revert to bad habits when the pressure is greatest.

That said, they are in the habit of making great runs in the second half. Will that revert to norm? We will all look for that....or turn it off at some point if it does not happen.

That last possession of the first half summed up the entire season: dribbling around with 4 players stationary until the shot clock runs down and then frantic action and we don’t get a shot off. Then, athletic play to steal the ball and have a two-on-one advantage, only to throw it off our own teammate and turn the ball back over.

We have looked tight, nervous, and cold across the board today. In Brad’s analogy: our hair couldn’t be up higher or tighter right now….

Not sure if you spend much time here but that question has been asked repeatedly

Might as well come out in the second half in the full court press. What what do we have to lose?
While we’re at it let’s try a zone too even though we don’t practice it. That’s Arkansas kryptonite but of course we have to make it hard on ourselves

"At some point" is doing a lot of work there. I don't think we're close to being there yet. I'm as frustrated as anyone with our recent tournament performances, but at least we're in the tournament. Be careful what you wish for.

DO NOT FORGET how far we've come over the past few decades! Are you MAD SIR? Don't blaspheme that way please! 😳🤯🙏🏾👀

This looks like a pick-up game (again). A lot of good talent, yet not playing like a team. Now it’s back to one on one, no assists, and bricks.

Even #16 Howard dropped 37 on #1 Kansas at half.

This game is a microcosm of the season so far. 1st halves have sucked, with lots of turnovers and bad shooting. We are likely in for a furious rally that falls just short.

I may not be any kind of authority on the NBA, but I see NO ONE on this team that has the consistency of excellence I Thought was required to move up that ladder.

That was one fugly half of Illini BB...................................................................................
........................................................................................................................................................

I'm speechless, and yet we are only down 10........................

Kinda looked like a grade school game with stolen passes by each team..........head scratching passes by the Illini.....That last 24 seconds was the epitome of the half .......

It would help if our 1st team All B$G would actually show up for the game......

Deon T. just said we are playing like we haven't been here b4.......He also is lamenting over the TSJ shot with almost 20 seconds on the shot clock ......He said thats something a freshman would do.....
Brian B. chipped in with it looks like we are playing like scrambled eggs on roller skates....................

One good point for the Illini's favor is arkansas has a rep for blowing big leads and we have on occasion overcome double digits to win the game...........How are we gonna do it this time.......????.....my thoughts are ...................

1. Leave Luke Goode in the game...........
2. leave Ty Rodgers in the game .............
3. set better screens and use the pick & roll better.....
4. rebound the ball better , we are down 9 rebs so far.......
5. drive to the rim and finish at the defender instead of trying to avoid contact and then rush a more difficult shot.....

I have to say this years Illini has aged me at least 10 years as far as frustration and anxiety...........So much talent and performing no where close to that said talent.......

It's one of those years where you just shake your head and say WTF is going on .........

I'm still at the computer watching the game , but we need to get off to a fast start or this game might get away from us.........

it's meds time...........it really really is.................................

This team is incapable of making a run in the tourney regardless of the second half. It's a disappointing season. We should be perennial BIG title contenders. Disappointing season. Need to get back to it next year.
