PU guards played just as well as ours. Missing layups horrible shooting percentages

If u had a team with Edey MD and Sears you could possibly beat them

What’s very clear to me is that the last thing that Dan Hurley and UConn fans need is anything more to brag about. Can’t wait for them to go back into oblivion as a program. Never seen a group get so full of themselves so quickly. I’m also glad I don’t live in the Northeast and have to deal with any of them on a regular basis.

UCONN pretty much said go ahead and try to get 2's all game. Purdue only made one three pointer on 7 attempts! At least Illinois tried to hit some threes in second half. Just a very poor gameplan from Purdue in 2nd half when down double digits. Not sure why they refused to pass from Edey out for 3's.

They're undefeated in championship games. In fact I think every time they've made the Final Four, they win the chip. They have a right to brag.

I mean they've won 6 national championships all since 1999. Credit is due.

Best case scenario is next year both those teams fade into obscurity. Edey gone for Purdue. Castle, Newton, Clingwrap go to the league. Neither team able to replace the missing pieces and both finish middle of the pack in their respective conferences.

I like how Hurley didn't turn away the comment about being in the same conversation of Wooden and Coach K...

You're not that guy yet!

Are you serious? UConn went on a 30-0 run and those attempts at 3's were when the game was already out of reach after the first four mins of the 2nd half. Purdue at least kept it competitive. But yes, UConn totally eliminated the 3 pt shot and let Edey get his 37 pts and won by double digits. The only ELITE team in this tournament

No shame in losing to UConn. They are the best. Beat down the Big 10 for sure

I have been saying this is the way to beat Purdue for 2 years. With their length, quickness and size inside, UCONN had the best personnel to execute this game plan, and they nailed it.

Got to admit, as much as I wanted a B1G title, it was very uplifting and enlightening to see this UConn team dominate by playing the game at an A+ level in almost every aspect. Whatever strategy was tried to slow them down and yet score on your own end, they said sorry, we have an app for that. Dislike Hurley as much as you want, and he is not my cup of tea either, but he knows how to play and coach the game, get talented, unselfish players into his program, and motivate them all to play for the team. I tip my cap.

And yet it was still a pretty good day for the Illini because a new, and if the highlight tape is any indication, much improved Sencire Harris will be back in his Illini uniform next season!!!!!!

Hurley should have legitimately been ejected from this game. Any contact with a player on the court should be an ejection. A coach walking over to another player and possibly escalating something with an opposing player should be an ejection(the coaches are supposed to be the adult in the room).

Should start calling technicals every time a coach steps on the court.

All that being said UConn exposed Purdue. Having a center that can play Edey straight up without help and keep him off the offensive boards completely shutdown Purdue's offense.

Without Edey kicking to wide open shooters all the time they really had no offense other than Edey scoring inside. Also, Smith isn't a bad player by any means but he's also the most overrated guard in cbb. His stats are vastly inflated by playing with Edey and getting wide open looks all the time.
