I like bigs who played soccer. Obviously this isn't a comparison to Ebo, but always makes me think of this:

That.......is simply amazing. Akeem was the best big man I have EVER seen and will probably EVER see.

His first time he was recruited no major program was after him. Every team can't be wrong in their initial evaluations.

True. But a player can improve during a season. Especially an athletic player who is relatively new to the sport. Yes he is still raw but based on the clips and what his high school coach has said he improved by leaps and bounds in the last year. He is a much better player than the one who way being recruited last year. Now having said that he is still a project who will contribute best in the rim protection and rebounding areas. His offense will probably be put-backs and from running the floor.

There are soo many examples of late bloomers that have been discussed in this thread over the years (Mark Smith anyone?, Anthony Davis, etc). Not that this means that Ebo is a late bloomer destined for an NBA all-star career, but the assertion that he is not good because he had no high major offers after his Junior years is baseless.

You are citing the exceptions and not the rule

Sure, but I think all the OP was saying is that there are exceptions. Who knows whether Spicy G is one, but it is a possibility. Though I would agree that we should temper expectations until proven otherwise.

You can be a doubter all you want, but I for one think we got a steal. The first time he was recruited he had only played basketball for 2 years, but still avg 10/10 went up to 14/14 Yeah I will more then take that
