Not to mention that some lower level school like South Dakota State will now have to get punishment for nothing to make atonement for MU.My read is that the NCAA backed out of the deal because the penalty was "inappropriate". For anyone else, that would mean the NCAA thought the punishment too light, and was going to impose a more severe penalty.
However, this is scUM we're talking about, so my guess is that the NCAA will apologize profusely, direct that the university grant him a 10 year extension along with a 100% increase in his annual salary, and direct a statue of Harbaugh be erected at the entrance to the NCAA headquarters.
