My read is that the NCAA backed out of the deal because the penalty was "inappropriate". For anyone else, that would mean the NCAA thought the punishment too light, and was going to impose a more severe penalty.

However, this is scUM we're talking about, so my guess is that the NCAA will apologize profusely, direct that the university grant him a 10 year extension along with a 100% increase in his annual salary, and direct a statue of Harbaugh be erected at the entrance to the NCAA headquarters. 😂🤣😂
Not to mention that some lower level school like South Dakota State will now have to get punishment for nothing to make atonement for MU.

It's sure nice that I never get in trouble with the NCAA to sustain the scUM image .........................OH WAIT ......................

Cleveland St used to be the designated whipping boy - I’m sure they are more than happy to pass that on to South Dakota St !

I think this is really smart of the administration. They sit him for 3 meaningless games in a soft non-conference, and if he gets hit with more, it's manageable in 2024. Whether or not the case against him is petty or ego-driven by one side or the other, it seems like the safest route to go.
its most likely what some higher up in the NCAA told them to do , if they wanted to mitigate this and get it over with and take it away from discussion later in the season

Exactly. I think they already indicated the appropriate amount of games would be 6.
So by doing this now, worst case, next year he would only miss 3 more meaningless games.

I cannot find anything that tells me whether Harbaugh is suspended for anything other than 3 hours on a Saturday. We have seen how much of an impact Bret has on the Illini program, it's almost 24/7. If Harbaugh can run practice and be in his office all week, that's where the program is administered. A head coach has minimal impact on the actual course of a game.

what a coincidence , there is another coach named Harbaugh on the staff

if he’s still paid and allowed to do everything from Sunday to Saturday morning as usual , then it’s not a real suspension

Stealing signs in football can be almost eliminated with earpiece in helmets. Shouldn’t be hard to implement. Stealing signs is against the rules and should be punished. However if you are predictable teams can anticipate but knowing signs they know what you are doing

Seems pretty clear cut they sent scouts to opponent games. So they should be punished along with the the existing rule violations.

Saying you didn’t direct didn’t mean it didn’t happen and you didn’t know about it

My guess Michigan will get 2 extra victories for the last 5 years Jim will get a bonus and have 5 extra scholarships
