When you start talking about elite players, you're recruiting against 2 things:Need to be able retain more in-state talent. IL is such a strong baseball state.
1)The MLB draft
2)Weather
Like any of the Midwestern states, what player, with choices, wants to play games here in March, April and 30 degree temperature dips at the beginning of May vs going to a school in the Southeast, Southwest or West when you can play all year long, comfortably and on teams capable of getting to the CWS. With that comes more visibility and scouts in the stands.
