When you start talking about elite players, you're recruiting against 2 things:

1)The MLB draft
2)Weather

Like any of the Midwestern states, what player, with choices, wants to play games here in March, April and 30 degree temperature dips at the beginning of May vs going to a school in the Southeast, Southwest or West when you can play all year long, comfortably and on teams capable of getting to the CWS. With that comes more visibility and scouts in the stands.

Mis-managed game. I would have pulled the Illinois starter earlier. But what do I know as a 75-year-old baseball and Alfred Neuman fan?

Hartley is what he is. Illinois competes or win a conference championship every 5 years and make the NCAA TOURNAMENT once every 5 years. He has maxed out, it has been time too move on. Then again you can have success like Indiana and Michigan did years ago, college world series, and your coach will leave for a better job.

That does not exactly mean that you are retaining the in-state talent.

You can have an entire roster from the state of Illinois and still not be locking down the high end talent, which is what the poster is alluding to.

Where can I go to get info on recruiting for the 28 class? Who we are looking at.
