I was going to buy a couple of tickets to the doubleheader game at the UC but I am reconsidering after seeing the pricing.

Lower Level Sideline $155.00
Lower Level Corner Court $130.00
Lower Level End Court $105.00
Upper Level Sideline $55.00
Upper Level Corner Court $45.00

These are to reserve in the UI block and have no specific section/row numbers. I would wait until ticket master releases actual seats/prices. I can't imagine demand will be more than 15,000 so there will be plenty of seats and probably a pretty good secondary market. I would wait unless you absolutely have to sit in the UI section.

Since it's a Friday, what are people predicting the Illini finish this year? I'm going to go with 6th. Here is my prediction for the year.

1.) Michigan State
2.) Indiana
3.) Purdue
4.) Maryland
5.) Wisconsin
6.) Illinois
7.) Michigan
8.) Ohio State
9.) Iowa
10.) Nebraska
11.) Northwestern
12.) Penn State
13.) Minnesota
14.) Rutgers

  • Michigan State/Indiana will battle it out for Top 2.
  • Purdue will be tough with Swanigan coming back and Spike improving point-guard play.
  • Maryland will be tough with Carter and Melo coming back.
  • I see us battling with Michigan and Wisconsin for 5/6/7. Could go either way depending on schedule, home match-ups, and team development.
  • Ohio State had everyone young transfer, and the 3 best returning players are solid but not All-B10.
  • Iowa had everyone graduate besides Jok, and I don't really know how good their younger guys are going to be.
  • I think Nebraska will surprise people this year (Andrew White, Watson, Morrow, Webster), but they have been horrible on the road.
  • Can't put faith in Northwestern, Penn State,.
  • Minnesota/Rutgers are train-wrecks.
Orange Kool-Aid has been chugged for the day... :D:illinois:
Iowa and Maryland are too high IMO, and Northwestern a bit too low

-Is Carter returning? I have not seen anything where he dropped his name from draft consideration.
-MSU will be good, but I'm not sure how good. The freshman are talented, but inexperienced and they lose Valentine, Davis, Costello, and Forbes. Indy loses Ferrell and gets Blackmon back. Blackmon is more of a 2, but they'll be good nonetheless.
-Purdue lost Hammons, Davis, and Hill. It's hard to say what they get out of Spike.
-Wisconsin returns their top 9 scorers. They'll finish 4th or better.
-Michigan is always dangerous and Nebraska will finish in the top 8, I think.
-Illinois at 5/6 seems realistic with a healthy roster.

They do realize it's Illinois and Northwestern playing, don't they? That place will be half full, MAYBE, at those prices.

From the Way too early Big Ten Basketball projections for 2016-17 (below). We're picked to finish 12th, ahead of Rutgers and Minnesota:

12. Illinois Fighting Illini

"The Fighting Illini are reeling from scandal after scandal. The latest is the dismissal of the one of the top returning players, Kendrick Nunn, after he pleaded guilty to battery charges in a March arrest.

On the court, Illinois will rely on leading scorer, Malcolm Hill, to take control of the offense. Sophomore guard Jalen Coleman-Lands also showed promise in 2015-16 while the forwards consist of Leron Black, Mike Thorne, Michael Finke and Maverick Morgan. The bigs will have to improve defensively and will have to rebound more this season for Illinois to even sniff mid-level status."

It should have said "the bigs will have to be in uniform and on the court this year unlike last yaer."

Fairly certain Carter stayed in the draft.

I don't understand how divorced from reality they have placed these price points.

So, as is the norm, things got twisted, embellished, and completely blown out of proportion with Maniscalco's comments.

I don't think anyone embellished anything. I merely stated what Sam said and there was a discussion about what it may have meant.

Saw Finke at the Y on wednesday. Still looks pretty slim but definitely much more defined than he was last year.

Well stated. You made me change my mind on this one.

Disagree - if he would have 'said something when something was happening' - people would be complaining that he was disrupting the team and not keeping things within the (extended) locker room.

I also don't think you can compare when Rice was here versus last year's team that was down multiple starters - the compare was when Rice was playing vs when he was suspended - and the team pulled together pretty well during that run as I recall...

Ya, I saw that Twitter. At the time, he had never said what was going on with that. Any insight?

Probably a little light on Wisconsin. Everybody's back and I'd be surprised if they aren't fighting for the B10 title when all is said and done.

He has to sit out the first semester due to enrolling at Tulane. The Illini are petitioning the NCAA to let him play immediately but no news has been made public on that front.

I'm really surprised we haven't heard anything on Tracy yet. A decision on his case should take all of about 30 seconds. Yeah yeah yeah NCAA blah blah blah.

I am somewhat surprised by this too. I know we shouldn't be surprised, but to hear about Thorne before Abrams doesn't make much sense to me. Should be an open and shut case...

Has it been said by any media guys that it hasn't been approved? Maybe Illinois just didn't bother to announce it, knowing that it's a slam dunk case.
