AJ is a hard worker and did well in the limited time he was on the court in his first two years under Coach Groce. Personally, that's what I love to see from players. I'm really excited to see how much he can contribute in Underwood's system this coming year and next!!!
I know I need a new username. But I also fully support AJ. I got to know AJ before he got to U of I and was super excited that he picked Illinois. I know the type of kid and worker he is. I hope the change of staff benefits AJ on the court, I don't think AJ has had the opportunities he needs to show his abilities. Ready to see him on the court this year. Is it basketball season yet?? I also love to watch AJ even when he is on the bench. He is the first person up when someone makes a big play. Kid is a great teammate too

AJ is the kind of player that you could see all the potential the minute he got here, he just needed some time to adjust and continue to improve. I think he could have a Morgan type jump this year.
AJ has the opportunity this season to earn all the minutes he wants, think he can really excel in this offense. AJ/MA/MS/DWill at the 2/3 gives us no bad options! Deep squad.
I don't think Egwu started with Meyers. If you're going by ESPN's boxscore that's not correct. Their list of starters is Griffey, Shaw, Henry, Egwu, and Leonard. That was Loyalty's tall lineup.

TC is correct. Egwu started his first game. So did Abrams. Egwu only started 2 more games his freshman year.

Considering he's only two years into his college career and now has a new coach and new system that he's playing under, I'll bet the light clicks on for him before he's done. I'd bet on him proving you wrong before it's all said and done. The list of players who turned it on as upperclassmen is long. Just in more recent history...Warren Carter, Egwu, Luther Head, Mav Morgan...the list goes on.
