Okay, roster looks like it is set, like to hear the experts win (BIG) projections.
Only team that is obvious loss to me is MSU. Not saying we can win all the others, but think we should be in the game. Really interested in WI this year, lots of talent gone including Bo. They have owned us under JG and don't believe it is talent. Should be a clash of systems and the outcome telling for the future.

Lotta interesting stuff in the videos/articles.
Stuff I loved:

Mark Smith saying he wants to be a lock down defender.

All the little things that indicate high buy-in from the team.

Underwood:
saying how much he likes the freshman, but also reminding us they're freshman, and don't know what they're in for yet.

talking about how fundamental relationships are to recruiting

talking about how important evaluation is to recruiting

I know that Underwood has already been tough with the players already, but I sort of got the impression from the interviews with him that he hasn't really laid into them yet or gotten into the meat of his coaching style, particularly gameplan. Presumably, he's probably waiting for Vesel and Alstork before doing that.

But even at this early stage, I can see the results of the new discipline regime in the way the players talk and interview. They seem focused.

Name a player we've had under the Groce regime besides Hill that was on the same level as Kamisky, Dekker, Koenig, Happ, Hayes, Jackson, Taylor, Showalter..We have been outmatched in the X's and O's and talent by Wisconsin for years now.

Guys like Rayvonte, KNunn, JCL, and Tracy Abrams (when healthy) are/were just as talented as those guys, they just weren't developed and used in a way to maximize their talents. Under Bo (or BU) they would have been just as good as any of them.

Rayvonte Rice developed greatly as a college player, including Illinois. Very underappreciated player. Unheralded HS player who ended up as a really good college player, probably as good as he could be given his talent level and limitations. Saying that Ray Rice did not develop in college, including Illinois, is simply wrong.

Ray and KNunn you can make an argument for, but Tracy was not on the level of Jackson, Koenig or Taylor who were All-Big-Ten level guys. And JCL was nothing but a good 3 point shooter with no desire to play defense or learn to dribble.

That's hard to say considering Tracy never got the chance to develop fully or consistently due to long periods of injury and under Groce's tutelage. JCL also still has two years left to play so it's a bit early for him, too, and again I think he would thrive under better coaching. The talent is there.

Not sure how to look up past nos but according to VC we are 3.350 and Wi 2.939 this year. Happ was ranked 34 at the same position and year as Black was ranked 8th. Almost all of Wi players were only 3 star and not highly ranked. They fit Bo's system and were developed. Hayes was also only a 3 star. Talent per se was not our problem. Recruiting all positions to fit a system and developing the players was the issue. Believe we will see that with Greg E. Not highly rated but will be very successful. We were also not the only BIG out coached by Bo. That's why I am interested to see this year's games. Both have new coaches and I'm betting on ours.

Anyone notice who was getting some extra shots up in the background of the BU interview?

Tejon posting videos on his Snapchat story of him throwing down some pretty nice 1 handed and 2 handed dunks today at the team photo shoot. Looks a lot more mobile, along with a nice alley oop to MS!

I wasn't sure where to post this, but does anyone have any info on when season tickets will become available for purchase? Thanks.

Yahoo - enthusiastic Illini fan. Nice to see they still exist. All we see on this message board is grumpy nay sayers.

The BU train is about to leave the station :chief:
