Really excited about this schedule. We will likely rack up too many losses in those tough games to sneak into the NCAAs, but I think we will grow a lot as a team this year and be knocking off some sure Tournament teams come February. Then again, I am quite the optimist at this time of year. :) Georgetown, Maui, Notre Dame on the road, two Big Ten teams, UNLV and Mizzou in St. Louis is absolutely nothin' to sneeze at for a pre-NYE schedule!!

Ahem! Cough, cough....

Honestly I just don't see anyone beating these guys out for the opening day starting spots. Feliz has the experience against International competition and garnered the No 1 JuCo Ranking for a reason. He's good. Will he do well against B1G competition? We will find out, I am optimistic! Things might get retooled by the time conference games roll around or BU may roll with the hot hand after a halftime break.

I am more excited then most it seems for this season. I just think that BU's system will start to click with these guys, and having the extra length and athleticism on top of that is going be huge! :thumb::D

I think your starting 5 is very possible, but that group does not bring much in terms of height or length:

Feliz - 6-2
Frazier - 6-1
Dosunmu - 6-5
Nichols - 6-6
Eboigbodin - 6-9

While we may not see it much or at all this year, due to inexperience, we could have a second wave unit (keeping Ayo) of the following:

Dosunmu - 6-5
Griffin - 6-5
Jordan - 6-5
Jones - 6-7
Kane - 7-0

Certainly more height and length there. Imagine that group in two years, with Kahlil Whitney replacing Jordan.

Doubt that DaMonte would be bumped by a freshman in the second wave.

Wasn’t suggesting it was the most likely roster, just a possible one with maximum height and length.

Sounds like Ayo is getting some awesome experience at this camp. Love the quotes in that article. Certainly seems to have leadership qualities, and the personal emphasis on defense (along with that wingspan!!) is an amazing quality to have in your highly-touted incoming recruit. He should set a great example for the other guys.

So AG doesn’t appear quick or “twitchy” but does appear to have like a one step burst to change pace and direction. Seems kinda awkward to look at, but clearly effective.

If Georgi can play as much as Ebo did last year, it will be a bonus. I do not look for much from him this yr. His value should be down the road (Jr. Sr.). The Illini will have Ebo, Kipper and Tevian to play the 4. Kipper is strong enough, just not tall enough. Tevian is not strong enough to play there a lot. The versatility of this group should be fun to watch. I like Andres Feliz as PG, Trent as 2G, Ayo at 3, Kipper at 4 and Ebo at C. That gives the Illini a lot of scoring potential.

I think people will be surprised about Georgi. He should get a few minutes in the pinch post. Hopefully he can pass as well as BU says he can.

When was the last time we had a freshman big who could defend without fouling?

To be fair that's not just an Illinois issue. Guys like that are extremely rare and are most likely one and done. Krutwig from Loyola being a notable exception to the one and done.

I'm thinking if Self wants to maintain a good relationship with MIF, he needs to take Ayo, despite his Illinois commit :thumb:

Committee selects. Painter is Chairman, Battier, Ed Cooley, Sean Miller, & Tony Bennett are on the committee. I would imagine Self has input too.
