1) Wow, really surprised the Braggin' Rights Game isn't on ESPN. Say what you want about it "slipping" or whatever, but last year was VERY CLEARLY a step back up from years past, and this is what it has been the past five years (not exactly a golden era of Illini basketball):

2017: ESPN2
2016: ESPNU
2015: ESPN2
2014: ESPN2
2013: ESPN2

2) God, I hate watching games on BTN ... was hopeful (for no logical reason, I admit) that we might snag a few more ESPN conference games this year by lucking into ESPN wanting the other team on TV, LOL.

Pure speculation, but the Porters and two new HC's probably added to the appeal last year (at least in ESPN's eyes). Maybe they even factored in Tilmon's saga.

If you love BTN, just wait until you have to try and find the SEC Network for next year's game...

Supposedly Higgs needs surgery and will be out a while. It doesn't help that he reported out of shape.

Whoever it is that keeps breaking mirrors over at Ubben (and Memorial Stadium) really needs to be more careful. Or fired. I'll go with fired.

Curse of the Chief, again....I really don't want to believe in it, but the evidence is overwhelming.

They used to talk about the Curse of the Bambino in Boston for years...until the BoSox came back from down 0-3 and stunned the Yankees by winning an unprecedented 4 straight and then swept the Cardinals 4 straight, beating two teams that had won over 100 games.

And being out for a while won't help him get back INTO shape, either.

If all true, and Higgs was truly going to be able to contribute this year, then this sucks. Long term, maybe a RS year benefits us. I just hate when big guys who aren't ready right away, burn a year of eligibility with some non-conference minutes in mop-up time and then disappear when conference rolls around. Mav Morgan being a recent example for us. He would have had so much more value on last years squad compared to the little he did his freshman year with Groce. And until we have a roster that doesn't have 3 project bigs that bail out after a year, I don't want to hear about the potentially wasted scholly a 5th year takes up.

I wonder if the NCAA would consider a similar approach to BB that FB has recently implemented. Let every player play in 4 games without losing RS eligibility. Perhaps a minutes cap in BB would be more useful, but even a game limit like 6/7 would make sense.

Yeah...but that was what? 90 years later. I don't care to wait quite that long for Illinois to be relevant again.

Yeah, and of course, more locally, the Billy Goat. I believe they actually let a Billy Goat back in the park, the year prior to winning the WS. Cub fans, can I get any confirmation. I also seem to remember that they brought in a Greek Orthodox Priest too.

Wondered if he was a redshirt anyway. Wasn't here in the summer, looked out of shape and didn't see him getting time ahead of Kane or Giorgio or DeLaRosa when healthy. Not a bad thing to let him develop and contribute in the future.
