They've never had a stretch like we had from 2013-2019, otherwise the attendance figures have been pretty much neck and neck since the 80s.

This is not entirely accurate. We jam-packed the Assembly Hall for many years of mediocre basketball in the latter half of the Bruce Weber years. Many consecutive sell-outs. It took an extended run of not just mediocrity, but embarrassment to start draining the seats. Fans started showing back up very rapidly when we turned it around just before COVID hit.
