Going to undermine myself here a bit but, speaking of reputable draft boards, saw this the other day and it gave me a chuckle. This mock was published last October, but still...who knew that our best pro prospect was sitting at the end of the bench all season?!?

I mean, there’s questionable, but that must be a cut and paste error from our roster??

Well, I'd consider our entire team outside of Shannon to be an unknown.
I feel like a lot of our hype rests on getting Nance, who is also far from an unknown. Nance and Shannon alone will be two players nearly every team in the conference would take as a starter, and then you add in a (relatively proven) Hawkins and Melendez, plus a 5-star PG … I guess I get why pundits are waiting, but it’s far from just homerism to proclaim that they’re dead wrong. Again, IF we get Nance.

No he was terrible in practice. Hence why he didn't play.... @pruman91 could have scored on him.

I'm not sure why anyone would do a preseason ranking based on the prospect of a guy who's put his name in the NBA draft dropping out of the draft and signing with us. So that's my point. What IF Nance goes elsewhere?

I know my hopes for the season will be dramatically improved if we get Nance.

We have fans who think that Hawkins is better than Nance going into this season. The guys making these rankings are a bit more rational.

Haha, one would hope, but the rest of the mock is pretty rough too so it must be somebody who is following recruiting rankings/buzz and not much else. They had Khristian Lander at 44, after he'd averaged a whopping 2.1 ppg and 25% fg as a freshman. And they had Daishen Nix at 46 even though he had gone pro (undrafted) several months before this mock was posted. So methinks it's just somebody who is a combination of lazy and uninformed 🤷‍♂️

Can someone with a better memory and more energy than me put together an all-star team of players we were absolutely certain were going to enroll at Illinois but never showed up?

Post of the day! I'd love to get Nance, but I think the chances of that happening are well below 50%. Just hope we add some decent PF/C as I don't think only Hawk and Dain is enough. Seems unlikely both are able to play 30 or more min/game. (even though I'm sure we'll go small at the 4 at times).
