Dickie V was great 30 years ago, have never liked Harrelson. Walton and Gus Johnson definitely on my A-List. Always liked Dakich too but he's become pretty tedious
Walton is more of a distraction. Entertaining ... yes. But it is hard to take him seriously with the nonsense that comes out of his mouth. I like my basketball more traditional, so I can watch the game without wondering if the announcer is on his meds or not. Walton in one game is fine ... but a season of him? Yikes.

Vitale has not said anything relevant for several years. I can handle Walton every once in a while. But his major contribution is "the Pac 10: The conference of Champions". This gets somewhat tedious. Walton's personna is somewhat like Dean Martin back in the day, when part of his act was that he was drunk.

I expect Hawk will play 25-30 mpg this year and average in double figures scoring, Also, people seem to miss how good of a rebounder he is.
He can definitely rebound, but can he rebound without fouling much?

Let’s also not forget Coleman’s biggest contribution from last year…

He can be a good defense player in the league. He just need to shoot enough. He can be a 2nd rounder by simply improving in these two areas.

The biggest area he needs to improve in is decision making. I recall some posters here saying he needs to play more freely and not worry about making a mistake. I think the opposite. He needs to play more disciplined.

He could learn something by watching Melendez. RJ is very focused in his moves with little wasted motion. When he puts the ball on the floor, you can tell he knows what option a, b, and c are.

Outside shooting and strength would obviously help him also. He can play in the NBA, but he needs to make a big leap before that can happen.

Pruman - cap tip your way. I tried to listen to Walton with a 8 beer buzz, no dice he is just stupid and non relevant.
Walton goes off on some tangent like....how many bridges there are in Portland and how important those bridges are to the Portland economy....all of this while play is going on the court.....if I want that kind of information I'll tune into the History channel.....NO to Watlon please

He needs to develop that kind of thing in order to be a play maker, which will be nice for us. However, I don't think he needs to be a play maker to get drafted or even find a role in NBA. I still see him as a role player who doesn't create from himself or others until he proves me wrong.

I kind of agree. I think Coleman's problem is he has the skills but he is more reacting to what is happening instead of making other people react to him. It's a hard idea to put into words but the best offensive players know how to get to their spots regardless of what the defense does and can almost know what they are going to do ahead of time. A lot of other guys are playing based on what the defense is giving them and just reacting in the moment.

Same thing of defense, Coleman fouls a lot because he is reaching which means he is not moving his feet at well as could. Generally if a guy is reaching he is reacting and is late. The best defenders know where their guy is going before he does.

So I guess it's not really a matter of discipline it's about thinking a step ahead of the other guy.

I think you described it well. RJ, at least from what we’ve seen, looks like that type of player. Super focused and decisive. I wish some of that could rub off on Hawk.

It feels like a down year in the BIG --losing 3 top-10 NBA picks is a lot of talent, but 9 total NBA players is a ton. Should be pretty open race. Just looking at Bartorvik's ratings, there isn't a single BIG team in the top 10.
As a power 6 conference, the average should be just under 2 top 10 picks, and 10 total drafts each year. The fact that 3 top picks and 9 overll feels high says something about how few NBA players were coming through the big10 for a while.

I think you may have left out left out foreign players, g-league ignite and overtime elite players, and non-power 6 conference draftees from your calculation.

CH is emotional at times...probably thinking too much....if he thinks less and hones natural reaction and confidence, he will be amazing.

RJ seems to just naturally have automatic and confident responses. He is a great player.

The challenge BU has is getting everyone to be selfless.....if he puts on repeat various clips of boston celtics for team and gets Illini to play that unselfishly and with amazing D, we should easily be B10 champs again.
