It took him a little while to adjust to the college game and learn the system (as is common with most freshman), but then he also had some medical issues (appendectomy which required surgery and then recovery time) just as he was starting to get into the rotation more often. If not for that his minutes would certainly have been higher.
GG...............thanks for the reply and I agree completely but I already knew all your facts quoted in your post .....My post was more rhetorical than trying to create a discussion or debate ......

Man , I can't wait to see this year's team play some games.....i am full hope and optimism about the ceiling for this team ......seems like BU and staff have a squad ready to rock and roll..........so many new faces and that can only lead to more exciting BB .....The start of the season surely will need some time to get adjusted to each other but I have no doubts the Illini have a great shot at another B1G trophy this year.....

if the loosiers are considered the front runners then the B1G will be down this year .........TJD is still , in my mind , very overrated and without seeing their frosh play , the players returning for the loosiers does not strike fear in my mind.........But , I am talking about my mind which is fuzzy and mood enhanced most of the time ...........................

GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Projectable" is the perfect word to describe him.

He's got the NBA wing starter pack, now can he put the pieces together?
IMO the two most entertaining and intriguing players to watch last March were RJ and CoHawk. The game all of a sudden slowed down for both of them at the end of Feb and they clicked. Can't wait to see them this winter. Could be monsters.

He already has all the skills one needs at the offense end. I will be shocked if he doesn't average more than 10 pt per game.

In addition he had Covid and was out for a while with injured ankle. Very legit reasons why we didn't see him get consistent minutes until the latter part of the season.

Don't want to be negative, but if the Big 10 is down this year it will could hurt our post season seeding. Any early season losses will be magnified. Realistically 3 to 4 preseason losses would not be a surprise. Once the team develops continuity they will take off. Just might not show in tournament seeding.
This is true, but we thankfully have a few chances to snag some really impressive non-conference wins, and Mizzou is thankfully no longer the absolute trap game it has been (i.e., they have a pulse and it's on a neutral floor, so it will be solid). Also, we will at least have our shellacking of Indian to "look good" due to how overrated they are. :)

Also, if we were to win the Big Ten this year - and there is a perfectly good enough reason to think we could - it would be the FIFTH time we were back-to-back champions in program history. It got me thinking just how often a program could say they were back-to-back champs, so I decided to compare it to our conference foes (note: winning it from 1973-1976 would count as "3 times"):

Michigan State: 7 times
Ohio State: 7 times
Purdue: 7 times
Indiana: 6 times
Illinois: 5 times
Wisconsin: 5 times
Michigan: 3 times
Iowa: 1 time
Minnesota: 1 time (1906 and 1907 ... lol)
Northwestern: Never

Even just in my lifetime, two heartbreaking losses in 2003 and 2006 combined with an absolute screw job in 2021 have deprived us of three more! And a lot of these, especially Wisconsin and Purdue, were riding championships in the 1920s. MSU's number is especially impressive, as they didn't even join the Big Ten until 1951, and only one of their back-to-back times (1978 and 1979) came before Izzo...

Wow, when you see his highlights in one clip like that it's very, very impressive. Looking forward to seeing these guys unleashed this season.

Last year?
Other than the concussion, I think we would have benefited from something like this. I don't remember seeing a video like this last year, so I'm assuming we didn't take emphasize it. Could be a dangerous thing to do, but I like to live on the edge. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
