I appreciate the Illini as much as anybody. That should be manifest from things I've said. And yes I appeciate the high finishes a couple years in the Conference.
But anyone on the outside looking at how the lllini have faired in March vs. these Border States programs... would they come to a different conclusion?

What I'm saying is that there is something these other programs are doing that are allowing them to succeed in the big tournament and in the final National rankings that the Illini need to improve upon. Not saying the rankings are perfect, but aren't they consistenty indicating something to be paid attention to?

I agree with the first sentence of your last paragraph.

With the portal, NIL, prep schools, and recruiting being more national for everyone I don’t think your point about geography/border states has anything to do with it though. You should be looking at every program more successful than, whether it’s Indiana or UCLA, to determine what they’re doing better than you. If your motivation is only geographic, what happens when your region has a down year or two?

I think this is exactly what BU tried to do this year when he built with longer, more athletic, interchangeable players. Just never jelled the way he thought. Right now the main thing better programs are doing is getting old and actually shoot at a high clip. Get long shooters who will stick around and buy in.

Just a thought. Maybe a hope more than reality. I think RJ does the plays and not just make things happen. He defers to TSJ and MM. When TSJ was out there were more expectations on him and he performed better. If he didn’t defer he would grow more and be better. Reminds me of my daughter in high school. I kept saying take more shots your open but she would say I am running the plays.

I agree , as of right now , the stats posted are accurate ....But only for this year .......is this reason to be concerned ??....Maybe.....
With Hansberry and Dra in tow next year and Mr. Johnson the next year , not even considering the pickups from the portal , I am not as concerned as most .........I guess I have complete faith in BU and staff and our returning players with the future players also to not go off on a tangent..........

UK fans are wanting Cal gone B4 the NCAA's..................If Texas underperforms in the dance and cal loses his first round game , he might look harder at a move to austin city Limits ......just sayin, Just me Humblin Opines......

Somebody has to break Jalen Coleman Landis’ record. Glad to see Skyy step up. Already jealous of his future natty. In all seriousness, I wish him well. Sometimes things don’t work out. Transfer portal exists for exactly that reason. Go get ‘em, Skyy!
