It doesnt matter how many they shoot each day if their technique/form isnt correct.
I coached a kid in Jr. high who shot 93% from the free throw line (29-31) he shot them wrong but I didn't change a thing. Why would you? High school coaches told him to change that he was shooting them wrong and made him change. Never shot over 60% again. Consistency and confidence are as important as form. I agree if your starting from 0 might as well get the right form.

My answer to this would be how many high school coaches know the right way to coach shooting? Totally agree that the mental aspect is very important here & it sounds like that was possibly what did him in along with poor coaching. You dont see many college/pro players vary much at all in the right way to shoot free throws. In regards to the Pros, take Luka Doncic for example. He is a great player but a poor FT shooter averaging maybe 73%. If you watch him shoot them his feet are pointed at an angle away from the hoop not directly at the basket. Why hasnt anyone changed his shot? Probably too scared to do so, but he has missed many FTs in critical situations. He probably shoots a ton of them every day but with his feet wrong.

I remember being at a basketball camp and Sean Miller said the exact opposite. By the time they're into college, they're not really a reason to change form, just get up as many shots a day as you can.
The Dallas Mavericks free throw coach worked for many colleges in the summer, including Coach K, Lute Olson, & many other famous head coaches. He would have them tape the players from the angles he wanted, then critique the film, & have the head coach change what was wrong so the player heard it from his coach instead of an outsider.

Goode was 2 for 2 last year and 4 for 6 as a freshman so 75% in 2 years but it's an incredibly small sample size(Just like RJ shooting 60% from 3 as a freshman). His shot looks good though so I don't have any questions about his ft shooting ability plus his play style will never create a ton of free throws.

To put that in perspective Harris was 4 for 20 and Rodgers was 12 for 31. Not huge sample sizes but still absolutely atrocious.
So Goode went from 67% as a freshman to 100% as a Sophomore. That's the leap everyone hopes for. /s

Shouldn't have to add the /s, but it's safer to.

Just wanted to throw out two "looking on the bright side" scenarios for next year's team, regardless of how anything else turns out!

1. We will now be entering the third season (where fans were even allowed) of a consistently filled State Farm Center. Being a "great fan" is a habit that takes time to learn, and I think you will see the atmosphere within SFC continue to improve closer to the levels it was at during the Glory Years of 2001-2006. We now have seniors in the Krush who have seen nothing but competitive basketball teams and full arenas, and they are passing that down to the young kids. Conversely, the seniors who taught them were seeing losses and rare sellouts when they were underclassmen. It also takes time to gain a sullied reputation back, and I think you will start to see SFC continue to regain its national reputation of being a snake pit this season!

2. If TSJ can have another great year and elevate himself into an NBA draft pick, it is a MASSIVE win for this program's public image to have another Chicago-grown guard in the NBA this close to Ayo ... if he can help this team get over the Second Round hump in the NCAAs and secure a Sweet Sixteen berth or more, then that increases tenfold!

I hope your point about the Krush is accurate. They were kind of underwhelming at times last year, not always generating enough noise (especially during opponent FTs or when the team had some dead periods). They only started doing behind the basket distractions at the very end of the year and that used to be a staple of any home game so hopefully that continues.

I noticed that, as well, and I think that is part of the positive trend I was trying to reference. Part of it was the exciting finish both games shared, but I thought BY FAR our best home crowds of the year were the final two games for Northwestern and Michigan. In both games, the place sounded deafening at times, and the Krush was really into it. Also, given how the season ended, I was extremely surprised and impressed with the turnout by Illini fans at the United Center for a Thursday night game. Our Thursday session drew 16,000+, and we got almost ZERO help from the other three fan bases - Penn State, Maryland and Nebraska ... trust me, I was there! So while some of the Friday sessions got similar or better numbers, they were filled with fan bases that each brought a couple thousand. Against Penn State, it seemed like over 90% of that 16k were Illini fans.

Was anyone surprised he wasn't already in our HOF?
I was quite surprised a Warrior on one of the greatest teams in NCAA HISTORY, was not in our HOF! My class and so many found memories of Kenny Battle. Nicest person on the planet. He would then absolutely beat you down on the court. His competitiveness and pride as a Illini was instrumental, the 🔥, and what a great beloved teammate! Kudos and Congrats Kenny.

Wow, was that Dainja diving into CoHawks chest for a lose ball on court? Did I see Quincey in that video? By the way, quite a few very tall men working hard!
i thought the same thing at first too and was like Dang Dain! but I re-watched it and paused and I think it’s DGL. They both have long hair they keep tied up I believe and Dain was wearing a blue shirt. It was Moretti who’s feet he was diving at and the guy diving was definitely was too skinny to be Dain and was wearing a white shirt. Also, I think a previous video or pic showed DGL in a white shirt backing down Moretti at one point too.
