???Ty shot 52% last year.
I think you are using the word “shot” pretty liberally here; most of his “shots” were at the rim, all 2.8 he averaged per game while shooting 37% at the free throw, which is more indicative of someone’s ability to shoot as opposed to driving the hole.

I mean Shaq led the league in “shooting percentage” every year:

This is the best video I’ve found that showcases Ty’s ability to develop range. Play starts approximately 30 seconds in and 7 of his jumpers are in between 0:30-1:45. There are a few more from about 2:20-3:00.

I would guess he has ambitions of developing more range/versatility to his game but not sure how urgent it is for him/how much time he’s putting into it at the gym, as he certainly did not have the green light as a shooter last season. If he develops a reliable j from midrange-3pt line, watch out.

EXCEPT SHOOT!

We really don't need him to shoot. We just need him to be able to bring the ball up the court, and then get it to someone who is in a position to shoot. He is an absolute dog for the ball, and is a excellent rebounder. Do I wish we had gotten a "true" point guard - sure, but I trust the staff to know what they currently have, and put the team in a position to succeed.

He shot 38% from the line and attempted 1 3-pointer all year. How many shooters put up numbers like that. He will have a very important roll next year. I just wish it was near the basket where he shines.

This is what I call an important roll.

The majority of his 2PA were at the rim, but roughly 1/3 (31 of 92) were outside the paint.

I don’t care about whether it’s a block or goaltend. Referees get them wrong 50% of the time.

Looks like Ty’s taking DGL off the dribble here. What’s our take? Ty will be fine at the point? DGLs bad on defense? A PG shouldn’t get blocked. I’ll hang up and listen.
I love Ty but it just kills me to see him always drive left and finish right. He turns back into the defense there. Why not just jump stop, finish left over then mouse, and then you have the rim to protect you from backside help if you take that angle.

I’d be interested to see the synergy stats on his left side finishes at the rim.

Great call out. Left hand finish might have prevented the block.
