Is anyone actually buying Peacock for when NBC is trying to force fans to watch there? Or is everyone just pirating/skipping those games? I, personally, will not now or ever be purchasing Peacock.
Does Peacock still come free with Xfinity

I think it is time for the FCC to get involved. It is no longer an even playing field for television providers allowing certain providers access to certain sports etc. example: direct tv NBA MLB / you tube NFL / Peacock NCAA / etc. etc

The end user is the loser and it was suppose to be an even playing field when the FCC originally set up television / cable or whatever for the consumer.
Every provider should have access to all programming for their customers. We have the technology and want to do crazy stuff like this.

No longer...I recall I got an offer to get it for 2.99 but I didn't take it. I haven't tried to see if that's still valid or you have to pay 5.99 like everyone else.

I have heard some people still getting access but I checked on mine and it asked me to subscribe

it's yield management, pure and simple.

WRT Peacock having video issues: purely subjective, but I'm not seeing it (subscriber for ~5 years). their footy streams are uniformly excellent. are there technical issues? of course, but they're pretty rare.
My stream kept freezing for a few seconds every two to three minutes on my LG TV. I could play it on my laptop and use Chromecast to project it to the TV, and I didn't get the freezing. However, the picture quality was not nearly as good. Maybe there is something with the LG Peacock app?

Does the TV have a browser? If so, you can try going to the Peacock site and logging in there and see what it does.

The issue could be any of:
* Peacock doesn't have enough outgoing bandwidth at peak usage times.
* Your ISP doesn't have enough bandwidth at peak usage times.
* The total demand in your house exceeded the cap at that time. (e.g. kids on other devices, or a device auto-updating large apps.)

The computer was probably auto-downgrading the stream from 720 (or 1080) to 480 prior to chromecasting it to compensate for the lack of bandwidth. The TV app may not have that feature.

Stream players seem to buffer much less than before. I suspect this is any/all of:
* People want to watch real time vs. 10s lagged (to ensure a buffer)
* It saves bandwidth when people leave (less "wasted" data)
* It causes more auto-downgrades, which reduces the outgoing bandwidth requirements.

For non-sporting events, this pretty much just sucks. Before I could hit pause for ~15s, and know the stream would be good for the show.

The times we live in and the stuff people complain about just baffles me. You can watch every single game of any team anywhere on the planet you just have to pay a few bucks for it. Let's go back to watching 1 'game of the week' every Saturday afternoon. I've watched plenty EPL on Peacock and somehow made it through watching the entire Purdue game last weekend with 0 issues from Peacock. Quit complaining and be happy you can watch all of your teams games anywhere you want in the world. If you want to be pissed off about something be pissed off you had to pay 5 bucks to watch that poor excuse of a football team on Saturday. Peacock stream was fine but good god the team playing wasn't.

TL;DR: First world problems, quit complaining so damn much about paying $5 for Peacock
I reserve the right to complain about anything, any where, and at any time, and promptly reverse course at my discretion. 😁Especially when it comes to spending money - and as I start to stare down a fixed income in the not too distant future.

But yes, it is a good time to be a fan if you can afford it or are willing to chase things down to keep costs down. The choices available to us are nothing short of astounding. Some of the best TV we had as kids pales in comparison to what’s available now. I’m looking at you Brady Bunch and Eight is Enough. This really is a golden age for content, no doubt about that.

Sounds like people's mileage may vary, but here is my experience (far NW suburbs):

Through last year, full Peacock free with Xfinity. This year, Peacock basic free but premium / sports extra. But there is an app rewards program and one of the rewards was premium Peacock, so I ended up getting it free anyway.
If you have Peacock and enjoy laughing, I recommend watching Killing It and Girls 5’Eva. Get your $5.99 worth with more than just basketball.

I had zero problems watching the game on Peacock. The quality was fine.

Same. Samsung TV. Used Apple Airplay from my phone and it worked fine. Very odd.

Based on this thread and the game thread, it seems this may have been why some people didn't have issues while others had intermittent freezing or crashing (like myself). Seems that those who connected to Peacock through Apple were fine, but those going through the app on a TV dealt with a decent amount of stream instability. Really good to know.

I don't know the reason for any instability, but I had the opposite experience. Went through the Peacock app on my TV and had almost zero issues. Sound did go out a couple times but for only a few seconds each time. LG OLED television.

Huh... Well that blows a hole in that theory...

Same. I have a HiSense projector with Android TV and the stream over WiFi was flawless.
