I remember a couple years ago at a B1G media day, press were asking players which player from the B1G they wished played on their team. I think everyone named a player on a different team except Kofi, who named Coleman Hawkins.
Last year they asked this question of Coleman and TSJ - they both laughed and said Edey without hesitation. So all you guys that don't think Edey is a great player have to acknowledge that he is a most feared player.

Current NCAA basketball in this time, this group of players, in this landscape, absolutely! Timing is everything!

I think Edey is an extremely effective basketball player.

Something feels wrong about calling him a great player.
I 100% agree. The degree to which the refs favor him is insane. As an Illini fan I have a pretty good comp in Kofi Cockburn..... who did NOT get anywhere near the favorable calls... I can only imagine what we would have achieved had Kofi gotten reffed the same way.

Edey is a great college basketball player and thats as far as its gonna go. He may be a situational defender/rebounder at the next level at his best. He is no where near as skilled as a Yao Ming. He is basically like the 7'0" high school kid playing against mainly 6'4" and smaller people on average but only at the college level. I guess let him enjoy it while it lasts.

I am.sure he will get a shot with some.team as a backup center. Like Kofi his game.was great for CBB not so much NBA. However if I was an owner in a smaller market that was struggling to field a winning team playing today's NBA game I would tell the fans we are starting over sign Eddy and a good shooting surround cast of hard nose players and play the 70s pro basketball.style with him. I think they could actually win the right players. Yea yea shot clock bla bla but you could still play defense for 24 seconds..

I get what you are saying but I still don't see that happening. He is good enough to make a living playing ball, just not in the NBA I don't believe. Can you imagine him trying to guard Giannis or Wemby? Jokic etc.... not happening.

I'm not really one to complain about referees, but watching the last 5min of Purdue/MSU and our game was absolutely terrible. Multiple non-contact fouls, defenders getting shoved while guarding the post then getting called when hold their position with their arms up. Absolutely ridiculous.

Brad will, undoubtedly, not win the Coach of the Year award again, but I think inarguably he was the best coach. Not only did he improve from 6th last year to outright 2nd this year and won 3 more games in the conference (only matched by Nebraska), but he also kept the team together despite everything happening with TSJ, his best player. The coaching job it took to keep the season afloat when TSJ was out, including changing the offense, was spectacular. Couple that with dealing with the emotions and game plan of reintegrating TSJ and it was a masterclass of flexibility, pragmatism, motivation, and emotional intelligence. Brad's a heck of a coach. What he's done over the past five years has been massively underappreciated. No other coach had to deal with what he had to this season.

100% agree

For the teams who finished the regular season you can make a case for all 4

To me you should get the coach of the year if you win the conference. Arguments about exceeding expectations seem like moral victories and the media undervalued your talent. In rare circumstances should that be considered. To me the Georgetown women’s coach taking a team projected last and after the head coach passed away and got 5th in the Big East is a huge accomplishment
