Bleacher Report released their picks for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team All-Americans. TSJ nowhere to be found.

Not a real surprise. TSJ did miss 6 games and had issues getting going for about 4 after that. There was about 10 games of 31 that aren't a part of an otherwise incredible resume. So, the sports writers have an excuse other than the allegations against him to keep him off their team and don't have to offer any other explanation. Not sure any of these publications will have the guts to put him on their team - maybe the NABC could select him. I do note that Brandon Miller of Alabama was selected as a consensus All-American last year, but he was not arrested and didn't miss games.
If it is just the eye test, TSJ is a first team All-American. He may just have to show out in the tourney to get the attention he is due.

Maybe this will add more fuel to the fire for the young man. Many people get nervous and tense before big games. Maybe this will extinguish that and he comes out firing on all cylinders the rest of the season. If he does, I like our chances to go far!

100% agree

For the teams who finished the regular season you can make a case for all 4

To me you should get the coach of the year if you win the conference. Arguments about exceeding expectations seem like moral victories and the media undervalued your talent. In rare circumstances should that be considered. To me the Georgetown women’s coach taking a team projected last and after the head coach passed away and got 5th in the Big East is a huge accomplishment
Except Brad didn’t win COY when we did win the Big 10. I think he’s the winningest or within one game of being the winningest Big coach in the past five years while four other coaches won it. Give him the trophy. You can quibble about whether he should win it or be runner up this year, but on the basis of the body of work, just give him his due already.

It’s but one metric, but now that the regular season has reached its conclusion, the Bayesian Performance Rating (BPR) places the beloved at #10, and our favorite do-it-all player - Coleman Hawkins - as the 16th-rated in CBB (TSJ landed at #43).

The problem with some of these is that the stats tilt if your team or other players are just really good. There is no way that Braden Smith is close to the 5th best player or that UConn has 3 of the top 13. They benefit from playing with one another. Without diving into the formulas I’m guessing Smith is high because of his high percentage of assist plays (because of Edey) and low turnovers (most teams double Edey which opens lanes to others).

Also, I posted this on a previous page but this team has officially become the first Illini squad since 2005 to not lose back-to-back games for the entire regular season. Considering the TSJ suspension and having to deal with all of the "outside noise" ... BRAVO!!
And zero double-digit defeats in those losses, I believe. Truly "offense wins games". We'll see how the second half of that phrase bears out...

Exactly…even the Academy finally got it right:

I knew Domask would be one of our top 2-3 scorers but I didn't forsee how many other important things he was going to do for us. Well deserved acknowledgement of what he has done as well as TSJ. Congratulations young men. Also Hawkins got screwed. Obvious 3rd team big10 and all defensive team.

Couldn't agree more. Edey is literally a PG's dream. I'll hold off on crowning him king of the B10 until we see what he does sans the big guy.

Averages probably matter than totals if you are measuring fan support. As arena capacity and number of home games impact the numbers. Nebraska was 18-1 at home while Illinois was 15-3. Nebraska had an extra home game and their arena seats about the same number of fans as State Farm Center 15500. Purdue only had 16 home games.

Illinois played 18 home games. Capacity is 15.5.

Nebraska played 19 home games. Also seats 15.5.

Purdue likely absent because they only played 16 home games plus Mackey only seats 14, Wisconsin played 17 and Kohl seats 17k, MSU played 18 and Breslin seats like 15.
This is a much nicer answer than mine.

I was going to point out that there isn't a whole lot else to do in Nebraska, plus they're having a good year
