Although across the history of basketball we've seen 85-90% free throw shooters that aren't 3 point threats and we've seen guys that can make 3s but are horrible at the FT line for whatever reason. While it is still shooting, they are two completely different motions / actions.

I guess my hope for Ty is that he can do something like this from FR to SR season:

Because there a slew of guys that have.

you look at any NBA draft experts and read what they write about guys who they arent sure can shoot the 3 and the first thing they all mention is the player's ability to make FTs or not as an indicator of whether they can improve from range. Either they're all talking out of their rears or there is metrics that support them.

That doesn't mean it CANT happen but typically your FT% being low means you're not a good shooter.

Color me skeptical. Who was the last point who couldn't shoot three? Chester? To me serviceable means Colemam sophomore year and I will believe Morez gets there first before Ty. My guess is this is marketing to help out Rodgers.
Yeah, I’m not sure we can read much into what was said on broadcast about Ty. What was he going to say. “I’m redshirting to save a year of eligibility and then am going to transfer.” And even if he is working on turning himself into more viable PG, doesn’t mean he’s doing that to stay here. I’d like to see him stay, but what was said hasn’t increased the likelihood in my mind. Just have to wait and see.

The Field of 68 is such a mixed bag. I feel like a lot of times I have better and more knowledgeable discussions with my friends.

Jerel McNeal is questioning a top-10 defense? Come on. Do just a little bit of preparation please.
I agree with you about our defense he was definitely ill informed or uneducated about our D.tbch it was nice to see someone who doesn't really rave or write for the illini papers or websites talking about a possible national championship though ILL

Tate was horrible shooting the ball from everywhere. But then, I'm not convinced Groce ever knew how to use him. One of the great failings of coaching. He immediately graduated and had a pretty good few years in the NBLC. He's still playing professionally but I think landed somewhere in Hungary.
Add that to Groce's list!

Traci Abrams struggled from 3 as well as I recall
Your memory is on point.... sort of. His first three years he shot 27% or worse. But after he missed all that time, he came back and shot 38% on 123 attempts (the most he took in any season).

Lunardi or his editor aren’t exactly pro-illini.

“The last time most of us paid attention to Illinois basketball, the Illini were giving up 30 straight points to UConn in last year's Elite Eight.“

How about they lost in the elite 8 to eventual champion UCONN? And that after his unremarkable 6 seed quip.

I already thought the guy was an idiot (who admittedly stumbled into a good idea at the right time, even if he’s not particularly good at it), but he’s really getting on my nerves of late.
