Not rocket science: bad teams are generally not good defensive rebounding teams.
Just for clarity, this is defensive rebound %. NOT defensive rebounds per game. So there isn't a "you need to get a stop to get a rebound" argument. It's literally.... the percentage of available defensive rebounds you are able to secure.
UCLA and USC are both very bad in that department, especially UCLA.
We meanwhile, are a very good offensive rebounding unit (4th in the nation).

The Illini will host Michigan on February 27th. I have watched Michigan play several games so far this year. They have size, play great defense, block shots and can shoot the ball very well. They have depth too. They can go on long runs that can turn a deficit into a commanding lead in a heartbeat.
It will take a monumental effort by every Illini to take them down. The Illini will at least have to stay even on the boards, 2nd chance points will be key, no turnovers, have a very good shooting night from multiple players, can't shoot 60% from foul line, stay out of foul trouble. Quite a task cut out for them
I can't help but think what Johnson would have gave this team alongside Mirk and the Twins. I think it was a mistake to let him walk. Water under the bridge!

Kofi should have been included as he was a star at the college level. My image of him was unfortunately tainted when I saw him play in an NBA summer league game and he looked awful and it was clear his game was not suited for today’s NBA.

Hell I can buy season tickets for next year with that much. So what is the give away for these
I think there's a card shop in Champaign offering like $150.
I wasn't able to make it to IU and the only home game I'll be able to go to for the remainder of the year is Michigan. But these cards would have covered the cost of my season tickets. Wild.
The ticket market nationwide has become such a mess.
The idea of a secondary market should be "Oh shoot, can't go. Let's fill the seats" Not "How can I get rich here?"

Can’t help but think ahead to next year while celebrating this team. It seems entirely possible to have 5 of the eight rotational players back. Need to replace Ben, Keaton and Kylan. But we add Ty to make six experienced players. Don’t know evaluation of rest of team but Lee and maybe Jakstys are very possible role players. Morillo seems like a very possible (unequal) replacement for Keaton when you have passers like Mirk and Ty also playing.
I think he played 14 games earlier. Michigan was his first game back this season.

This right here is the secret sauce for Brad's success.....when we lock in on a guy we've identified, or pivot to another option once they've gone a different direction...we hardly miss on our evals. We don't really waste NIL money on underperformers which is HUGE in today's game.
Other than Petrovic, I can't really think of many players under BU that we thought would be a big time player that completely flamed out...maybe Matt Meyer wasn't all we thought he'd be but he certainly was a top player on that squad. Throw in the fact that this staff is great at finding diamond in the rough types like Domask, Wagler (x10000) and Grandison, Plummer......I gotta imagine there aren't very many better staffs w/r/t scouting in the B1G or even the country.
