Well done I in I.

The only question I struggled with the wording of was "why I root for Illinois". I do not support "everything" Illinois, but it was the closest. The university has a lot of problems and things I disagree with these days. But its part of my personal history, rooting for the teams takes me back to my younger years, and no matter what I will always be an Illini.

Really cool, thanks for sharing! While I have immense respect for the academic prestige of the University of Illinois and believe every Illinois alum should be incredibly proud, it's encouraging to see such a high proportion of non-alumni fans like me! Again, one isn't better than the other, but the best college athletics programs have fan bases that extend extremely far beyond their alumni bases. So, it's objectively good for the Illini!

I agree. I've lost my frat house and fraternity. Six pack is gone. MS and Assembly Hall have been changed, no pinball machines and way fewer pool tables I'm the Union. Heck, they don't even offer my degree anymore! (General
Engineering). I took solace in watching BB and FB players mature and improve. I'll always follow, cheer and support my school, but some of the emotional intensity may subside.
