Yeah I linked it a little earlier. Douglas County refused to cooperate with the University, which worked in Shannon's favor.

No, but consider two things:
(1) The university likely doesn't have access to much information since the situation is still working its way through the criminal justice system and the evidence that exists has largely not been made public.
(2) Shannon is leaving the university before the matter would be resolved at this point anyway, so what's the point in burning more calories on it?
The University continued to investigate Petry after his resignation so it's in their history.

As ABC's Kaira Willis reports at the end of the video, this doesn't affect the case in Douglas County, where Judge Sally Pokorny will get a more complete version of the evidence than the OSCR did. Judge Pokorny will decide, starting on May 10th, if the criminal case against Shannon goes to trial.

One of the issues I’ve always wanted to keep front and center because of context is just how bad the prosecuting attorney in Douglas County is. Not only has she been called on the carpet several times for misconduct, she has also just not had any sort of successful track record with prosecuting cases. Here’s another example of a sexual assault case dismissed for lack of evidence. I fully realize every case is different, but you just can’t discount her track record.

It's not just overall investigative incompetence by that county but also simple administrative things. Shannon's middle name is misspelled on half the documents. They've done such a bad job at redactions (and not just in this case but prior cases as well), anybody can see victim/witness information.
#2 in the decision maker in my eyes. At this point, with 5/10/24 being the hearing, the school is pretty much done with the matter. They did their due diligence at the start, followed a ruling in the middle, let it go at the end with no additional information coming to light.
I think that the takeaway for Josh and Co will be that when it comes to kids in any of his programs.....give the sermon early on and micromanage when necessary.

One ugly truth is that political considerations always play a role in these things, and in a place like Lawrence, KS, the attitude a local prosecutor takes toward football and basketball players accused of wrongdoing is always going to be a high-profile issue for how they are perceived by their electorate. TSJ isn't a KU player of course, but it ties into the same concept.
But then another ugly truth is that the ability of the accused and his allies to pressure the alleged victim into withdrawing their cooperation from the case is extremely commonly THE factor in cases involving violence against women, sexual or otherwise. And because of the uniqueness of this case, TSJ probably has no ability to do that even if he and his people had the inclination to try. Nor is this an alleged victim trapped in a situation where she's "persecuting" the star of the local team.
We shall see.
