One ugly truth is that political considerations always play a role in these things, and in a place like Lawrence, KS, the attitude a local prosecutor takes toward football and basketball players accused of wrongdoing is always going to be a high-profile issue for how they are perceived by their electorate. TSJ isn't a KU player of course, but it ties into the same concept.

But then another ugly truth is that the ability of the accused and his allies to pressure the alleged victim into withdrawing their cooperation from the case is extremely commonly THE factor in cases involving violence against women, sexual or otherwise. And because of the uniqueness of this case, TSJ probably has no ability to do that even if he and his people had the inclination to try. Nor is this an alleged victim trapped in a situation where she's "persecuting" the star of the local team.

We shall see.
I mean, he isn't a KU player and she isn't a KU student. And it's hard to call the case unique when they dismissed a case over an incident against a KU basketball player that took place right before Shannon's incident. And before that there was the whole Wilson case that is still ongoing with him suing for wrongful prosecution.

Do we know that to be true? I had missed that.

What I mean by unique is that TSJ and the alleged victim don't know each other or run in the same social circles. That's very rare in sexual violence cases.
It's in the court filings.

That's been the theme with these high-profile Douglas County cases so far. All three had young black men who didn't know their victims.

I wonder if there's something to be said about the fact that you usually don't hear about cases of sexual violence without knowing the victim prior happening very often and all three of these cases being suspect.

um...no. taller rangier way better built. hope I'm wrong! No way could DGL have scored 10+points per game as a freshman... Much different body type...DGL is superathletic, just of slight build.
JMHO...
On the team Trent played on, DGL could have scored at least as many if not more. Taller? 1 inch, maybe. Rangier? I don't know about that, but DGL is at least as quick as Trent, if not quicker. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE TRENT. But he was small.......Freshman Trent........

I've said it all along,he's too slight of build to defend big 10 guards. Every team will try to post him up and he'll be helpless to defend them.

Sure he'll make some steals out front and may make spectacular plays but he can't cover his own man, let alone switch off to any other players.

I like his attitude, but he's not a big 10 player. hope I'm wrong, but when was the last time Illinois had a player built like him?
Literally Trent Frazier played in the Big10 and was great defensively. Most teams play guards that aren't much bigger than DGL. Ace Baldwin is 6'0.

Two things stood out to me about DGL at the end of the year. 1. He's nearly impossible to screen. 2. He seems like a lunatic(and I mean that in a good way).

Cross posting this from the recruiting thread regarding hardship waiver for Domask. This highlights the changes made to the bylaw in 2022 Including how to count games in the season, etc.

I'm not a lawyer but the wording of this makes me think he should be eligible.

"(c) The injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than three contests or dates of competition or 30 percent of the maximum number of contests or dates of competition of the playing season that concludes with the NCAA championship as set forth in Bylaw 17 for the applicable sport plus one contest or date of competition, whichever is greater."

SIU played 26 games. The maximum number of contests including NCAA championship would have been 2 more conference tourney games and 6 NCAA tournament games(7 with play-in). Meaning SIU could played a maximum of 34 games. Domask played 10 games which would put him under the 30% threshold for the season. Then you can argue additional COVID cancellations.

The not granting waivers for that year doesn't seem like it would hold water since other players played a full season that year and got medical waivers in other years and football players received medical waivers for the COVID season that was cancelled.

I honestly think he could win in court if the NCAA denied it.

You are wrong I think DGL is only going to get better!! He just needs to keep his head up and have the confidence in himself!! Going to be a double digit scorer and a heck of a defender.

There ya go. Defense is built on those EXACT criteria: screening impossibility and lunatic effort. It is VERY hard, but it isn't in the least COMPLICATED.

I really hope DGL has the opporutnity to keep bringing it, just as you describe.

While I agree with you about DGL, I advise employing a slightly different opening gambit. I am not being a jerk, I enjoy this board and am of the opinion that wording matters a LOT. I apologize about sounding so ... superior or like a jerk or whatever. Just hoping to lubricate things on this very rewarding and (to me and to so many others) valuable site.

Message me in private if I've gone over the line; I bet we can reign me in. :)

Trent was TINY as a freshman...like his waist..suuupper skinny dude. I do not agree that DGL could have scored like Trent on that team though, IMO. I just watched that video and it brought memories of what a scorer Trent was that year. DGL didn't seem like a natural shooter or shot maker this year, though I will say that limited playing time makes it hard to judge that because of rhythm and all that.

I do remember Trent's freshman year when Brad was talking about how good Mark Smith was and then he mentioned Trent being an electric player and having more to give and show in games, then when Brad turned him loose, it was pretty awesome.

Then sophomore year was fun, then he took a major backseat to scoring his JR and SR year, but it was weird because it was almost like taking that backseat limited him from having big games at all (very rarely..scoring wise). It almost makes me think of a player that was a high scorer and like tore his achilles or had some major injury or lay off but came back and you see flashes of the scorer he was, but only in spurts.

AND LASTLY, glad we don't have the hideous gray jerseys that we used to wear!

Just use the Dark Mode on your PC/Device.... I've been reading this forum in Dark Mode for years.... and yes, it does help immensely! I use Firefox browser (Love it!) and it has a DM function and below is a screenshot. Even my old crappy smart phone has a dark mode....
