Illini Coaching Staff

Definitely your opinion. Walker is known as more than a recruiter. Antigua is known for being a good big man coach. He is a super recruiter, but that is not his whole resume. If the name I am hearing for the third spot is the one, you will have no worries about the staff.

Listen to Combes. He's right on point.

I don't want you to spill premium info, but if I asked you to categorize the 3rd assistant would it be:
A) X's and O's
B) Recruiter
C) Chicago

Roger Powell

Roger Powell is the Associate Head Coach for one of the more respected up-and-coming coaches in the sport, and he's been with him for six years now. He's not leaving that for the third spot on our bench.

Werner is convinced it's Ron Coleman. I'm paraphrasing.. but he said he was very certain that's who it was, said it multiple times. It was either yesterday's show, or Wed. Either it's changed in the last 24 to 48 hours, or he's getting bs information from his source.. similar to the head coaching search when we were hearing every name under the sun except Underwood, from media folk.

Or there's new info....

Coaching hires are fluid.

He has updated info, but it's not a done deal.

I'm wondering what sort of Irvin backlash we can expect if Coleman gets passed over considering we already missed out on his brother Lamont Evans.

True, and as much as like Roger, he is not what Illinois needs right now.

It's true I still have some amount of cognitive dissonance about how to do Chicago. I want to win games and get recruits, but you just can't do that and stay squeaky clean. The downstater in me hates to bend over backwards for a Chicago AAU team, but maybe that's the only way to get the program's back scratched once and a while.

i dunno, ask me in 3 years when I've gained a bit more perspective on all of this
