Illini ERA

The tickets themselves are around $41 per game so really not that bad. I've gotten the mobile pass the last couple seasons and that's only $13-14 per game plus the $250 donation that gets you a parking pass for both football and basketball. Definitely not a bad deal.
As a Clemson football season ticket holder for the past 13 years as the kids pursued their degrees, and just a 3-4 game Illini football attendee (both home and away) per year, let me just say that the combined cost of I-Fund, game day tickets & parking hovers at "essentially free"..............comparatively speaking.

Overall, a it's a bargain basement deal for being able to view our favorite orange/blue teams in-person. We all need to jump onboard while the price is right to support our athletic department and athletes.

Can't complain about the "crazy lady" courtside while lamenting during the regular season how lame our crowd and student section have been at home the last couple years.

Especially when most of the other old farts in A-section rarely make any noise or get up out of their seats as it is. If more people at AH/SFC acted like "crazy lady" maybe we'd actually have a real home court advantage a la Purdue the last couple years. *shrug*

I assume this will mean I will need to pony up a lot more money or end up with worse seats. It may start slow, but once they have identified an easily manipulated revenue source, they will go back to it whenever they need/want more money. If it gets too expensive for me, I'll just watch from home and they won't have any trouble selling my seats lol.

I assume partially it is to provide some transparency. I could never get a straight answer out of the ticket office or Ifund about exactly what Ifund level will get me what section. Was always a vague well it all depends on priority points, renewals, etc. This is much more clear in pay X to get Y section.
I think a reset or "reseat" as it were also helps them eliminate gaps of one or two seats that accumulate over time when you have season ticket holders that renew the same seats forever sprinkled in clumps. So they have seats in the desirable sections that right now are hard to sell because they are just singles when people want a group of seats.

I hear you. If and when they screw with the price of the mobile pass then I will be done watching in person. Honestly with the roster turnover situation I am not sure I will renew after this year anyway. I like being invested in the players not kids getting paid to play and switching teams every year. CBB was a team sport and that is what i liked. I don't like NIL and the semi NBA look.

That's probably the minor part. The major part is to reseat those in the prime seats that aren't, or are no longer, paying their "fair share.".

You can see the donation needed to be eligible for each section. Not as expensive as I thought for football and most sections do not require a donation. 50 Yard line in West Main is the most expensive at $500/Ticket donation. 50 on the east is only $350 donation/Ticket. Basketball requires $$$ for good seats.

I have a call scheduled in a few weeks with my I-fund rep to learn more.

I believe that woman's name is Lisa and she was married to my roommate's cousin at the time we were on campus and my roommate and I went to a few games with them. both her and her husband were attorneys (she worked for anheuser busch) from the st. Louis area and surprisingly she didnt even go to illinois, she's just a big fan probably because of her husband who got his law degree from illinois

If they have those seats because they kept buying season tickets through the Weber and Groce eras, they've paid.
They’re giving 1,000 points per year of holding season tickets.

So, in theory someone who was a season ticket holder for 20 years, and donated $1,000 dolars for Champions level would have the same amount of points as a first year season ticket holder who donated $21,000.

But, of course it isn’t that simple. The points earned from ticket holder loyalty only count within your iFund tier based off your cash contribution.

A first year season ticket holder contributing $2,500 for the first time will be prioritized over the fan who’s paid $1,000 per year for 20 years.

Considering how bad we’ve been for so long I think those few select loyal fans that stayed true throughout deserve a better deal. Especially, considering the priority just allows them the opportunity to select seats, and they’d still need to pay the higher levels to qualify for the better seat tiers.

Overall, think this is an improvement but seat selection prioritzy should be based on lifetime contribution not annual.

I personally don't give 2 hoots about how she got to be an Illini fan! (not dissing on you!) I'm just glad she is and she's as die-hard as it gets! I was born and raised in Illinois through HS graduation outside a 1 year sidetrack to Ohio. Which was a crazy, fun, eventful, memorable year for me as a 6th grader, lol. Big Red Machine, Bengals/Kenny the Snake, Royals, Swords...... But in all honesty my Illinois youth was filled with school, working (the horror!) delivering papers, mowing lawns, detasseling corn and even babysitting, lol. In HS I took every trade type class I could enroll in, Auto Mechanics, small engine repair, welding, Drafting, Home Econ (I ate good!!!), Woodshop, etc.... I was just biding my time to get the he!! out of the state! (Go Navy!) I did NOT follow collegiate sports, AT ALL.... I became a diehard Illini fan later in life during the Flyin' Illini and Dee/Deron years....

TL;DR, love all my fellow Illini fans, regardless of how we got here!

Dumb question, but if someone had season tickets as a student many moons ago and signs up now for season tickets, do those student years still count for anything?
Probably as much as your tuition payments then would count toward I-Fund balances today.
