I'm surprised by the depth chart that was released. All this talk of power football and McGee likes using multiple TEs/FB/HB types, and no FB/HB is listed. I read somewhere that Nathan Echard and former LB Austin Roberts are now HB/FB position. I get that McGee will also just throw the TEs White or Davis back there sometimes as well.

I guess I was looking forward to a more old school depth chart with a FB listed.

QB- Lunt, Crouch, Jimmy/George
RB- Vaughn, Corbin, Foster
FB/HB- Echard, Roberts
TE- White or Davis, Johnson, Reams (could also play FB/HB)
WR- Turner, Mays
WR- Hardee, Taylor
Slot- Cain, Grant
OT- Schmidt, Fagan
OG- Megs, Heath
OC- Spencer, Martin
OG- Allegretti, Brennan
OT- DiLauro, Solomon

DE- Smoot, McGrew
DT- Chunk, Tito
NG- Bain, Milan
DE- Phillips, President
WLB- Crawford, Williams
MLB- Nickerson, Watson
SLB- Jones, Svetina
CB- Dunlap, Watkins, Sumpter
SS- Barton, Kelly, Nelson
FS- Day, Hylton, Davis
CB- Hayes, James
Nickel- Mosely, Cazley

Between Hayes, Mosely, James, Watkins, Sumpter. I think we can create a suitable CB rotation.

Watkins, Sumpter are still young pups so mistakes will happen. James I read had a good spring.

I haven't heard anything about Hayes, good or bad, just plugged him in off the depth chart release.

Anything can happen once camp starts.

Yes with Dunlap's injury history I do see good corner rotation on series to keep guys fresh....

I also see a lot of split back passing situations with Corbin and Vaughn as well as lb packages with the Watson and dele harding

I wonder what lb is the best in pass coverage when we go nickel? Which lb comes out? Maybe nickerson?

Julian jones is changing his number to 2 this season like his father and martez Wilson wore so our starting lbs numbers will be #2 #5 and #10 Like we have dB's out there as lbs lol

It's cool to see that Lovie is going to be on there. It would be even cooler if anyone still cared about Sportscenter. At this point, he might as well be doing a guest spot on The George Michael Sports Machine or The Baseball Bunch. But still, it illustrates the uncharted waters we're in now. Amazing times to be an Illini.

Break that down by day, that's 3.8 million viewers. Obliviously not a prime time slot, but I think it's a big deal to see Lovie on Sportscenter.

SportsCenter — Debuting on ESPN’s launch day (September 7, 1979), ESPN’s first and flagship show defines the sports news genre. It offers breaking news, highlights, features and in-depth analysis from award-winning journalists. Viewership: averages up to 115 million viewers a month.

Yes, I saw him on TV at the gym this morning and couldn't help but comments to my workout buddies that this exposure alone proves we're starting the process of turning the tides for Illini football! Can't wait to see what they can do on the field...

I'll take those boring, repetitive answers every single time over the bumbling Michael Scott-esque answers we're used to over the last couple years.

What did he say the stadium was called? I listened to it about 8 times over and still couldn't make it out.

Lovie once again is solid and the lights are not too bright for him. Great to have him and not a self promoting bumbling !!! clown.
