Illini Football 2016

I'm not sure I can recall the last time we weren't front and center on these. The first 10 months of 2012 maybe? I vaguely remember not even making it all the way through Beckman's inaugural season.

Is it too soon to start calling them the bad old days?

New set of hot seat rankings out today.

Beckman didn't make it through his first season without discussions from the pundits about him being on the hot seat. Starting with the Arizona St. debacle and each subsequent embarrassment only turned up the heat. Chew, steam rolled by refs, sideline penalties, winless big 10.

I think it was Paul Klee who essentially said that there was enough evidence halfway through the first season to show he was in over his head

We sold out 4 of 6 home games in 2008 after the Zook Rose Bowl Season, and that was at 62,870 capacity and a team that went 5-7.

I don't think we see any sell outs this season. Best chance would be Minnesota on Homecoming if they get really promotional. Plenty of people want to jump on the bandwagon so discount tickets to get them to come back for a look. Maybe Iowa with an influx of Hawkeye fans, but last game in November isn't likely to sell a lot of tickets up front on account of weather concerns.

I'm not expecting a sell out anytime soon. I was responding to someone saying it would take a decade. I hope Lovie gives us all a reason to show up before a decade passes.

Everybody get out there and buy tickets. We have an administration worth supporting with our hearts and our dollars now, something that hasn't been the case for years. Be the change you seek.

I agree. I don't mind watching the Illini on TV; it's certainly easier. I still prefer attending games at Memorial Stadium though. A good crowd and competitive Illini FB team is a nice way to spend a Saturday in the fall IMO.

I like attending games in person best. Sometimes I send my butler.

Hahaha! just kidding. I dont got a butler.

Now I moved away and miss going to the games.

What are the odds that there is any budget left in the tank to throw at Peanut Tillman to come help out with coaching our secondary?

I'm just hoping Urlacher and Peanut can swing by for a few days during camp, that would be enough to help the players pick up on the system while wowing recruits at the same time.

I believe I've heard Urlacher say on the radio when Lovie was hired that he would love to help out with anything Lovie might need. that would be awesome, just bring them all out to the bbq at the end of the month.

Urlacher also said if his son is a P5 football player, he's going to play for Lovie no questions asked.
