I'd say my measuring stick for the season is whether that Wisconsin game is a meaningful matchup we're excited for, or a season-already-over perfunctory drubbing.

With the most super seniors in the nation, it would be disappointing and worrying if we're pushover garbage.

My guess is 3-3, but hoping for a 4-2 record come Wisonsin.

I think there will be a good camp "battle" between Peters & Sitkowski as to who starts - thats a healthy thing imo
Agree. We need consistency from the QB position. Those 2 are both talented and experienced and the scheme/game plan doesn't need to be changed if we have to swap one out (injury, ineffectiveness, etc)

Let's hope there are no major injuries this fall camp. Will be in Champaign for the first game. I wonder is it or do you think it will be a sell out. I am sure there will be a lot of red in the stands. Will be in the 107 section.

if it’s a sellout or close , it will be a 50/50 split or close to , between fandoms

He is ranked dead last out of 14 qbs in most rankings !!!

Hope he can silence the critics????
Part of this has to be, "well, he 'failed' with Michigan, and he's the Illinois quarterback. So he must be the 14th best."-type nonesense we face with recruiting rankings.

I think BP has the ability to hang with the top half of the quarterbacks of the B1G if he stays healthy. Hopefully he can be one of the main reasons we surprise the consensus who believe we are the worst team in the B1G.

Consistent play calling and a commitment to the run game/play action should really help him. Our OL looks like it will be strong and semi-deep and we have tons of RBs. This hopefully helps us hit a power running game that stacks the box allowing BP to not be the focus of the defense and allow him to make some easy deep throws where he doesn't have to get hit or run for his life to make those throws.

I was at the spring game and what I saw was BP making some great throws because the line was giving g him protection. The question is, can our O line give him the protection against first string Big Ten D lines like they did against the Illini second string line.

Someone always has to finish last. Even with a new coaching staff, I don't think it will be us due to our returning experience.

Next year though? Could be a rough ride.

Agree that the playcalling could help him out. I personally was a fan of Rod Smith for awhile, as I enjoy that type of offense (when the team has the right players!)

BUT, Peters is not the right QB to be playing in that offense. He is in a good system now and hopefully we see major improvement!

I can’t recall ever heading into August with less an idea what to expect. I thought the inexperience on Lovie’s staff very noticeably caught up with him last season. There were games we were obviously not prepared to play. The truncated, late-starting season didn’t help, I’m sure. I don’t think we’ve ever seen these seniors play to their potential. And now those offense and defensive schemes have been scrapped anyway. (I’ve even heard rumors that Walters will try to pressure opposing QBs, which apparently is something permitted under the rules of college football.) We’re at day-one of a ground-up rebuild and yet we kind of already know everyone??? It’s like the plot of Major League II if Cleveland had finished last at the end of Major League I.

Our passing attack was by far the worst in the conference last year (way below 13th place Northwestern). Granted, Peters only played in five of eight games, but his completion % was 48% for an average of 85 yards per game. We return most of the offensive line and little of the receiving corps from that team. Hopefully we utilize our tight ends better this year because our wide receivers appear to be a motley crew.

^Agree AutoPoster3000, feel the same way.

I hope for recruiting's sake we have some success this season, because 2022 looks to be a definite step back.

I would not take Peters last among big ten QBs. Honestly, there a lot of average / just OK quarterbacks. Penix, Clifford, Morgan and whoever OSU starts probably a cut above the rest.
