I've heard 12 personnel mentioned a couple of times, unless that is just to throw Nebraska off.If I had to guess, we'll be offering pretty varied looks on O and D with the O looking mostly pro style. I formation or 31 personnel with some RPO mixed in.
Would love for us to just come out rocking 3 back sets but I don't see it being our mainstay.
One constant I heard from the early interviews of the coaches was the high praise of Coach Tank and how much improvement the players made. Nice to hear the praise from a player as well. I know a lot of people were sad to hear that Lou wasn't going to be retained, but Tank appears to be a major upgrade."This strength staff, I have no words for how good they are. This is the best staff I've been a part of, with respect to every past staff that I've been through," Epstein said. "They really do (place an) emphasis on taking career of your body and soft tissues. (I'm) super, super glad and happy with the staff that Coach B put together."
Running back Mike Epstein has 'a lot to prove' in fifth season at Illinois
"I'm just trying to do whatever I can to prove to not only the coaches, but my teammates that I'm here to do whatever I can to help this teamwww.pantagraph.com
Navarro, Williams, Washington and Hightower seem like the guys that have been getting the most mention.I’m excited to see what Jafar Armstrong bring to the WR group. We ended up with surprising depth there. One of these guys is likely to have a big season.
5 players who could break through for the Illinois football team this season
Here are five players whose names you may be hearing more often once the Illini kick off their season against Nebraska on Aug. 28.www.pjstar.com
You are correct that we have little proven talent at the position, but I do believe we have enough athletes that someone will step up. The have a top notch coach to get them there.Navarro, Williams, Washington and Hightower seem like the guys that have been getting the most mention.
It's probably the weakest position group on the team if we're being honest, especially if the Isaiah hype doesn't survive contact with reality. But having two excellent pass catching TE's helps in that regard.

In my opinion: Donny Navarro.
I mean, we can put 12 personnel on the field, but I am sure we are going to get called for too many men penalty.I've heard 12 personnel mentioned a couple of times, unless that is just to throw Nebraska off.
Here's Coach Peterson discussing depth at tight end and that 12 personnel is one of their primary sets.I like the sound of this but I don't remember seeing a lot of that in the Spring(obv the spring game is pretty vanilla so I'm not reading a to into but still).
I'm bummed by the way that this kid just can never seem to catch a break.
From Epstein's comments about the new staffs workout plan compared to the old, I'm hoping that we will start to see less and less of these types of injuries. Excited to see what Beason can bring to this team fully healthy.I'm bummed by the way that this kid just can never seem to catch a break.

Training Camp Practice No. 2: Illini OC Tony Petersen
I'm pretty sure I heard 12 personnel in another video and it's the only personnel set I recall being discussed. Obviously, there will be others.
So are you saying that a hurry up, fast tempo offense with a struggling Tampa 2 defense was not very strategic? Hmm...Coach Petersen out at practice just threatening people with a good time.
My uneducated football brain thinks the next wave of offensive strategy is to keep the other teams' explosive offense on the sideline as spectators.
The best defense is a ball control offense.Coach Petersen out at practice just threatening people with a good time.

The best defense is a ball control offense paired with a #1 defense. I don't need to see #1 one this fall however. I'll be happy if your ratings in those lonely four categories go from worst in college football to something like 60th. That'd be massive improvement. So yeah, ball control offense. The best defense is a ball control offense.

Maybe in high school. The best defense is a ball control offense.
I missed that. What did he say? From Epstein's comments about the new staffs workout plan compared to the old, I'm hoping that we will start to see less and less of these types of injuries. Excited to see what Beason can bring to this team fully healthy.
Post #150 this thread.I missed that. What did he say?
