He worked Illini games for 26 years. He had to age at least 50 years in that time.

pretty sure it starts when they get back from spring break : so mid - late March is about right
and yea, its typically about 3-4 weeks long - the number of actual practices and hours are carefully monitored per NCAA rules
Spring game is Saturday, April 20. Usually only a couple of days before the end of spring practice.

Yes. Ran into Robert after the Maryland game last weekend. He noted that Martin was there at the game and had just announced privately he was leaving. His children are now of an age where he really can't/shouldn't be taking 12 weekends away during the fall. That's apparently the proximate cause. Understandable. Hope he returns when they're grown.

As long as it’s not a Stephen bardo type. I remember watching some basketball games and he seemed to basically be rooting for the other team. If you’re an Illinois guy in broadcasting and the illini are playing I expect to hear some very biased points of view in favor of the illini. In his defense though I think he was working for BTN.
