Illini Golfers in the Pros

Not a good start for Hardy and Detry at Honda Classic. Nick at +2 in 87th place after day 1. Detry +6 and withdrew. Thomas had a dreaded 4 putt from inside 9 feet on one hole. 🤯

I have been following the Illini in PGA/Korn Ferry/Champions Tour for a few years now. It is crazy how many times Detry, Hardy and Pieters are picked in top 10 odds to win a tournament. Pretty sure Detry had about the top 10 area odds to win the Honda Classic. I love watching these guys but they get way more credit than what the resume has shown so far.

Big Steve Stricker fan and feel like he can out play these guys consistently at 56 if distance is not a factor

Wish Pieters the best but doubt I will watch him once he leaves. Not watched one minute of LIV golf so far and doubt I will tune into CW to watch any upcoming matches.
45th place. Not a good debut. But, he can still help his team. I’ll be watching and cheering.

We can see him play when liv is at rich harvest farms this sept.

raise your hand if you have at least one 4 putt every 9 holes

Hardy is going to have nightmares about the 13th hole at Bay Hill. Double bogeyed both days. A couple of pars on the hole and he'd be playing the weekend. +4 on the hole...+4 final score. Detry played the 13th hole -1. Detry -3 with 4 holes to play so should easily make the cut.

It's tough being on the clock, especially if you're not the one responsible for the slow play
I don't know the rules of slow play. To be penalized for not doing anything wrong does not seem to be the right thing.

The BEST thing that has happened for the remaining PGA players since ever is the formation of LIV golf. The fat-cats at the top of the PGA have hoarded over 3/4ths of a BILLION dollars, ALL earned on the backs of the players and have not distributed a DIME to the players.

Now that LIV golf is here, suddenly there are guaranteed purses for all entries in some tournaments, as well as Much higher first place awards. The competition has forced the PGA out of their monopolistic stance, much like the AFL did to the NFL.

Yes, the Saudi Arabian backers are not the nicest folks, but are the owners is other sports leagues angels?

Give the PLAYERS the money even if you have to pry it out of the PGA fat-cat's greedy fingers! The PGA has done nothing to earn your loyalty.

As a fan, watch golf for the enjoyment of seeing men and women performing the sport at an unbelievably high level, and working extremely hard at their craft to make a buck.

And that includes former Illini (including Pieters) in whatever league they compete in.

That is fine if you want to enjoy LIV....doesn't mean I have to watch it. I am not a LIV hater but I have no interest in watching it on the CW channel or App.

Golf is pretty far down on my sports viewing list and when I get free time I watch the PGA mainly along with Korn Ferry and LPGA Tour randomly when they air. Working from home the last few years I get to see a little more golf on Thursday and Friday when I don't have meetings/busy day. Actually started to get into the Korn Ferry a bit and have seen a number of them earn their PGA cards over the years.

Nick Hardy not playing well again at the Valspar...heading toward another missed cut. After an early top ten he has nosedived out of the top 100. Hasn't made a cut in a while. With the new changes I don't think being in the top 125 secures your card any longer. Top 70 is the # I believe. Detry still in good shape.

Dylan Meyer is playing on the Minor League Golf Tour in Florida. He's earned $47K since he joined in March, 2019, according to minorleaguegolf.com All MLGT players have to pay entry fees, it appears. He next plays at PGA National Resort Winter Classic March 29 in Palm Beach Gardens. Site showed him wearing his Illini belt at one tournament. Go Dylan!
