Ayo:
18pts (7-8 FG, 3-4 3FT, 1-2 FT)
39 minutes
8 assists
3 reb
2 steals
1 TO
+11
I swear his assists are more, wonder if a player taking a step or dribble nullifies the assist. Either way he has a mature, veteran game. Once again he is going to get paid. Bright future as a player and possibly coach/exec diwn the road.

I'm flabbergasted at how little adjustment there's needed to be for him. He's totally himself out there, with the limited exception of finishing against length at the rim, he's doing everything he was doing at Illinois, plus the return of the passing feel that sorta fell off here as we needed volume scoring from him.

It for real took him like 5 games to adjust to the higher athleticism level. How the heck do you scout that?

Our boy is gonna get the bag after his second year if he keeps this up. I dont see why he doesn't, he improved every year at ILL
At what point do the Bulls call his agent and redo the contract to add more years and zeroes. Probably best for Ayo to wait, to see what the market will bear.

I've gone back and looked at assists in previous games. I think generally the scoring is very loose. Lots of assists after the scorer puts the ball on the floor.

They also don't run plays for him, he often has to hustle for those points. Imagine if Bulls ran a weave or high ball screens like Cavs do for Garland. Ayo would get plus 20 at his height and length. I predict Ayo will get paid and their will be a chair, bldg, or scholarship he funds at Illinois.

There does tend to be a big bias between home and away scoring.

I absolutely love it!, Ayo is shooting 53% from 3pt. line on the season and 56% from Inside arc. If Bulls are smart go to Ayo 5 yr. 75 million, just extend him now! If they can? Pay the kid, it will payoff. He is a WINNER. Has been everywhere he's played!!!
Living in Central Illinois and not being able to watch him on Direct TV is horrible. But show Cubs and Cardinals 200x a season. 🤮

I would say his game is more suited to the NBA, heck from night to night you really do not know if a team is gonna play defense. 🤣🤣 Big10 was double- triple teaming him. can't do that at Pro level. So proud of Ayo!!!! He is a class act!!! Oh, and bye the way Ayo is playing D baby!

Just imagine: 23 NBA teams have an email from a team scout emphatically stating that Ayo is not worth a 1st round pick. The Rockets and the Thunder each had 3 chances to take him in the 1st round. After that, six more teams passed on him in the 2nd round, including the Thunder two more times, before the Bulls snatched him up at #38. It's absolutely wild.

I know it’s kinda cliché, but hard work -> confidence -> success is is a cycle.

We know ayo works his butt off. When you work like that it gives you confidence to do what you need to do. When you’re confident you’re more likely to be successful than when you’re not.

Now this is a league of extremely gifted dudes who work their butts off. But Ayo’s work ethic has been commented on by his coaches and teammates alike. If it sticks out enough for them to comment on, it’s definitely gotta be at a level that separates him from others who work extremely hard.

On a side note, when can Ayo be extended? I think 2nd round picks are team options for the second year of the contract right? So the bulls would presumably pick that up and pay him after next year? Hope Ayo is cleaning up on endorsements too. Don’t live there anymore so don’t know how he’s doing in that department.

I would assume the Bulls will try to extend Ayo in the off season instead of letting him finish the 22-23 season as an unrestricted free agent.

If he stays with the Bulls, Ayo will be under “early Bird” rights after year 2 and “full Bird” rights after year 3.

Spotrac seems to indicate they can offer him a qualifying offer after 2023 and he would be a restricted free agent after that
