Perplexing. JW has boxed himself in here by sitting on his hands and doing nothing for weeks. If he does something now he'll be behind in the carousel at the worst possible time.Whitman has to do something I would think. I’m sure the budget situation is not good, but this is an embarrassment. Hard to believe we could actually be worse next year.
He extended her contract through the 24-25 season just last year. Assures her a big payday no matter what.Perplexing. JW has boxed himself in here by sitting on his hands and doing nothing for weeks. If he does something now he'll be behind in the carousel at the worst possible time.
He hasn’t sat on his hands at all. In fact, he doubled down and said he’s happy about the future with Fahey.Perplexing. JW has boxed himself in here by sitting on his hands and doing nothing for weeks. If he does something now he'll be behind in the carousel at the worst possible time.
4 more years? 35-79 overall record and 6-64 Big Ten record...plus multiple players in the transfer portal. He extended her contract through the 24-25 season just last year. Assures her a big payday no matter what.

I know JW has history with Fahey and believes she is a talented coach, but the program trajectory is not going up. Either he thinks she will somehow amazingly turn things around, and/or he doesn't care much about women's bball in the scope of all the UI sports. Surprising either way.
Yes...if BRucks is correct that Fahey's contract now runs through 24-25....that's 4 additional years for a coach who has only won 6 B10 games in 4 years. Puzzling indeed. You're probably right though, he's gotta care.I doubt he doesn't care, but he has a lot on his plate that he probably thinks is more important. Still, the contract extension is a little puzzling.
Nobody cares about Women's BB; we may as well put our effort into programs where we have had success such as VB or soccer or softballI doubt he doesn't care, but he has a lot on his plate that he probably thinks is more important. Still, the contract extension is a little puzzling.
Yes, Kendall Bostic will join us next year after leaving Michigan State. She was a freshman this year out of Indiana. Played sparingly at MSU.For those of us who do care, is there any word on players in the portal moving toward us? Seems like a nearly
certain opportunity for playing time.
That's not a good sign.New assistant Scott Merritt has resigned to take a similar pos
ition at Wisconsin. He had been here one year.
Fighting Illini Add Anastasieska, Bostic - University of Illinois Athletics
Fighting Illini women's basketball head coach Nancy Fahey announced Wednesday the addition of transfer student-athletes Sara Anastasieska and Kendall Bostic to thefightingillini.com
Wow.LSU just paid Kim Mulkey 2.5 million a season to leave Baylor. She’s now the highest paid women’s coach I assume in the world at any level/league etc.
They paid their last coach Nikki Fargas 712,000, which I believe is close to what Fahey is making. Can you see Whitman doing something like that for women's basketball? I mean, you could argue Mulkey is one of the top 3 coaches in womens basketball but paying 2.5 mil for a coach in a sport that could never be profitable is crazy.Wow.
