That's only 2 more conference losses than Geno has at UConn. Granted, 543 fewer wins, but still.
Seriously, tho, how do you let this go on for so long?
About 3 years too long. I realize Fahey had a very nice run at Wash U but it was painfully obvious a long time ago that she was, to quote Walter Sobchak, out of her element at Illinois. Two more weeks.
OMG.Lost tonight to a 12-16 Minnesota team..... by 33! They now have lost 10 in a row.
Has the nationwide search started yet?
My daughter swam at illinois in the early 2000s. They won't have a good program until they get a decent pool (been to many in the Big Ten and ours is a joke). They also need a men's team, successful programs have both. We get no points from diving. They used to have to drive to Purdue to practice platform, they might still have to. The coach is ok and the woman work hard and improve. My daughter and the others would be lifting with Cory Bradford. Lucas Johnson, Damir at 6 am. But you can't recruit to that pool.I think the A.D. has three women's sports that he has to take a hard look at, if he's sincere about teams needing to have success or appear to be moving in that direction. WBB, Soccer and Swimming/Diving.
Agree. The pool is the original IMPE pool from the 70s, shared with Masters club teams and normal lap swimmers. Most if not all top programs have modern, dedicated facilities. We don't. Add in no men's team in decades and there you have it.My daughter swam at illinois in the early 2000s. Be thankful she didn't have to swim in the old 25 yard pool at Huff like the men did until IMPE was built. My daughter swam at illinois in the early 2000s. I work ar Ohio State and they have a great pool. They used to finish behind illini in big ten until they got the new one. Attracted great coach and now woman have won the Big Ten three years in a row.Agree. The pool is the original IMPE pool from the 70s, shared with Masters club teams and normal lap swimmers. Yeah. I did grad school at ASU and they have amazing facilities. Not coincidentally they have top notch swimming programs. I mean, Michael Freaking Phelps trained there and coached the men's team.I work ar Ohio State and they have a great pool. They used to finish behind illini in big ten until they got the new one. They're up 4 with under a minute to go.Illinois women playing Wisconsin. First time seeing our team. Champainful is all I can say.
One win...too late to talk contract extension for Fahey?Always great to see some success but doesn't change the future. Fahey has had her chance and failed. Time to move on.
Especially when unless they win against Neb, WI will have been only team in BIG they’ve beaten.Always great to see some success but doesn't change the future. Fahey has had her chance and failed. Time to move on.
