Bostic gets held, pushed, then holding her arm she tried to get away and she gets the foul called on her. Frustrating end to a frustrating night of officiating. You lose on the road when this happens.
So many levels of frustration to this game. And just think, their leading scorer was out of this game with an injury. Just think.

At this point, I will be satisfied with a 9 or 10 seed in the NCAA, finish middle of BIG, one win in BTT.

and start looking for some inside help for next year.

kudos to Coach Green for where she has brought our program thus far.
Greene is where BU was last year in being stuck with short guards. Hopefully she can stretch them a few inches by next season.

Love our grit and intensity but we are SMALL. Un less we will make a high percentage of threes we need a backup plan. Driving in the paint to get shots blocked is not working. The type of trap press MSU used against us I feel would be great. We are fast and quick and I think we could very disruptive for some easy baskets. Pressure, pressure and more pressure.

It was amazing to see how often our mighty mite point guards kept tossing L. Brown to the floor!! I guess credit goes to Coach Fletcher. The first quarter reminded me a bit of the start of the Purdue game. I found myself humming "Cold as ice!" All that being said, I would have been shocked not to see my
favorite team make a run in the second half. They stay after it. Time to honor Jenna Smith with a good win as we did Joelle against MSU. Not sure why she did not land with the Gophers, but proud to see her in the orange and blue for her career. And yes we are in pursuit of a big. Coach Cat was on the road most of last week. I think they are targeting JUCO players to bring not only size but experience.

Ladies are doing what they can. Cold shooting for the past 3+ weeks from deep and the better teams are exploiting our size inside. If you have both of those happen on the same night(which is happening more lately) than we will be fighting to win the game. I do like that the ladies have fight in them. We could have just rolled over in a few of these games.

Remaining Illinois schedule and opponent team record at home/on road for season of tonight

vs Minnesota 1-6

at Nebraska 9-3

at Maryland 8-2

vs Penn St 0-7

vs Nebraska 2-6

at Rutgers 8-5

Definitely easier to play at home the rest of the way and no mulligans playing on the road.

I haven’t paid too much attention to College women’s bb until this year (for obvious reasons ). I know Coach brought at least one player with her, but how active is the portal for Women. I doubt it is as active as the men’s, but just wondering if we can find help there as well as from JUCOs

Not sure about total numbers in portal — like you I’d guess less than men — but still active. Coach Green brought two players from Dayton who start — Cook and Shoup-Hill — as well as Genesis from NC St. Ndour was also a JC transfer this year. Transfers on this team prior to Coach Green are Bostic from MSU and Lopes from a JC. So it would appear that help can certainly be found in portal.

I’m curious about the freshmen currently on the roster (familiar with 2 incoming next year). Is there some future help there? I’ve seen Camille Jackson’s named mentioned here a few times — think she might be hurt — but not much on the others. Any thoughts on development possibilities for Jackson, Rhodes (who I see SG flipped from Dayton), Taponen, and Dewey?

It’s been around 1200 the last 2 years so about 1/3 less than the men, but still a significant number.

All options are being closely monitored and the fact that we are winning and getting attention will help create interest in the program. Then you combine a great staff with a state of the art practice facility and you should have recruiting success.
