THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!

Illini hang on for a 69-65 OT victory against the whiny knights.......mcmiller for the whiny knights was a great help for our victory as she ball hogged the whiners to defeat.....................seriously , Gen was special with 28 pts , 14 in the 4th quarter to bring the Illini back from a horrendous 3rd quarter.......................

Way to go Ladies....................

Two thoughts,
Rutgers looked much better than their record.
If McMiller went into the portal, I'd take her in a heartbeat.
Also GB has the heart of a lion. Plays like a pro.

Rutgers was trailing 68-65 with 20.9 seconds to go in OT with the ball out of bounds on their end of the court and chose to hold for the last shot! How could any coach on any level be that incompetent? They shot a 3 with 5 seconds left and Adalia blocked it. Shauna had to be smiling when she watched their guard dribble the clock down. I know I was!

Since January 28, 2024... so just over a year's time... our record is 27-10. Keep it rolling!
What is so aggravating about coverage for the Illini women is just crappy time like now I can never find post game info for a few days when they are on the road..It's like D3 school coverage,.I'm sure this can be better..or maybe I don't know where to look.

Illini women have a HUGE road game on Sunday vs Maryland. In the history of Illinois womens basketball, we have NEVER defeated Maryland. We are 0-17 all-time vs the Terrapins.

Maryland is currently ranked 14th in the country. They have an overall record of 17-4, and they are currently 7-3 in the Big Ten ..... with their three conference losses coming from #1 UCLA, #4 USC, and #12 Ohio State. Their other loss this season is to #7 Texas. We will have to definitely bring our best game to pull off the upset.

Thinking back about last nights win and a few things that stand out in my mind, that went unnoticed by the announcers. By the way the announcers did a fairly good job for being from the home team. This was a rough and physical game and several times lead to us not getting the calls, or getting knocked down. For all the amazing things Bostic does she is not good at dishing out some pay back physical play. She tends to draw fouls when she does, so I prefer she doesn't. On multiple occasion last night we do have players who can do just that. Or step up their game. In the second half both McKenzie and Shoup-Hill were victims of rough plays and bad calls. Neither complained, but next time down the court each called for the ball and made a three. It was so obvious they were pissed off and that was the pay back. Brynn Shoup-Hill battled for rebounds all night and her steal of a rebound and two points were a key in our comeback as her teammate Kendall laid on the floor.

Genesis who I have been critical off getting knocked off her feet easy sometimes, took several hits last night, none bigger than drawing the change at the end of the game. She also drew several fouls where she stayed on her feel and took the fouls as she drove to the basket. Plus much like Brynn Shoup-Hill and Adalia McKenzie she wanted the ball after things didn't go our way and she made several important 3 pointers. Don't know if its being seniors or the team bonding, coaching or what but this team is one big player and a few less injuries away from being a final 8 team this year.

Genesis, Kendall Adalia and Bryn played pretty much entire game and OT. Very impressive. Great win.

Only sub with sig minutes was Berry.

See Illinois men, last night, at the end of regulation.

The flight home last night was diverted to Indianapolis due to fog. The team boarded a bus home from there, didn't hit campus until 3 a.m. Now they turn right around and fly back to the east coast for the Maryland game.
