Not our greatest shooting game but at least the refs are letting them play. Need to defend the paint better and contest post entry.

Up 10 at the end of 3. 55-45. Unable to pull away. Dolan missed a wide open three to end the quarter.

55-45 Illini end of 3rd qtr....................seem's like we should be by more than 10..........Gretchen was on fire with 12 points in that qtr.......

Wallace was quiet in the 3rd....

wow...................I lost my power at @ 5 minutes left in the game.........I just got back now and I see we won 75-65.........

whew , I hate when that happens...........Wallace in the 1st half and Dolan in the 2nd half carried the way for the Illini to win # 2..

Destiny is a really great player for us..........exceptional defense and very composed running the game from the PG position.....
5 steals and zero turnovers.....

will have replay last 5 minutes to fully enjoy this win.......................

LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!

Parchment 3-14 🥶🥶🥶🥶

Dolan and Wallace jave to play better defense

I was going to mention both of these. Parchment is just young. I think what you saw against Maryville, when she was comfortable, is what you'll see her Jr/Sr. year. A few more years of experience and strength will do her wonders. Time is what she needs against more talented players.

As far as Wallace, she's not really a physical power forward player. Neither is Parchment. They're asked to be the #1 or #2 big on defense when Lety is not out on the floor and that's asking a lot. Illinois doesn't have an experienced physical power forward and that will hurt them against many of the top teams.

Get an experienced physical 4 next year in the portal combined with another year of experience for everyone and look out. Illinois will be very good.

I agree that Wallace is more of a 3 than a 4, and that presents some match-up issues, but we are going to have to live with it, as her offensive production is critical. It is a small sample, but Dolan is a solid defender. She forces some turnovers and gets over the ball screens effectively, which is critical for defending the modern-day ball screen offense, which everyone seems to play some version of.

Of course next year this team will be exceptional but this year I they will be knocked around for about 9 losses, but we have about 4 or 5 players who could get 20 any night. That would be Jaz , Gretchen, and Berry of course but Cearah has done it already, and I'm sure Maddie Webber has a few of those games in her too.Not even mentioned the all American or Aaliyah .I wished we didn't lose that sharpshooter Finney or Alves..The team has enough fuel but parts need to be broken IN THIS YEAR..We more than likely will lose one or two we shouldn't but also snag one or two real surprises because of so much firepower...One huge ex factor is if we can consistently get 10 and 10 rebounds out of the 5 spot, this team won't lose 10 games.....But that I believe is next year....

Alves could be that physical 4 after she gets healed up.

Maddie Webber seems efficient from the box score. I wonder why so few minutes. Haven’t seen the game yet

Exactly. But I am still hoping for a good run this year. It’s a shame Haven Smith can’t provide more help. Even Catoria is limited.

Webber and Guyton need double digit minutes. We need to go 9 deep with the depth we have.
There's a definite drop off after 8. I don't see Noya Catoira and Smith getting many minutes against good teams. Webber has gotten double digit minutes and I'm sure Guyton will too when she's fully ready. I believe Alves would have made us 9 deep. 8 is two more than we had last year. I'm hoping for a solid year this year then lookout the next 2!

Yes but she'll still be young and inexperienced. Most of your top true power forwards aren't young.

There will be games where Illinois gets pushed around under the basket this year.

They can counter on the opposite end with better perimeter play on the match up but that's tough to keep up the entire game.

Overall though I do believe illinois will be fun to watch and I'm kinda nitpicking.

Got to watch the replay today and always nice to read what this board thought before and as I watch, you guys are right on with analysis, opinions. Add a few of my own. One we are young team and played like it at times tonight, get used to it I tell myself. Was nice to see Guyton back but she is not close to being her old self yet, sure be nice when she is. To have her and Destiny Jackson being point guards and even in at the same time will be fun with right match ups. Third item I'll point out was toward the end and game got close, maybe 2 point difference against a good and physical Ill St team. The five people Coach had on the floor in this most important and physical time were two obvious ones, Berry Wallace and Dolan. Both of them not afraid to mix it up, can hold their own when push comes to shove. The other three Parchment we have already grown to expect physical play from, rebounds too. I was glad she also play Lety Vasconcelos, so nice to have that size and I think she and Parchment are better when in together.

Finally our freshman who didn't have any turnover I thought I heard them say, Jackson with a short rest and Guyton in a bit. In my mind as I watched I figured maybe the experience of Brown-Hagger or Webber, but not sure I would have taken out because the five in there gave us the physical play against a heavier, more physical team, the type in the past that would have beat us up.

BIG test on the road Friday.

She's nearly 20 (1/2/06) and has 35 games representing her country internationally. She's no shrinking violet. Not a finesse player, but she can bang.
