Thanks for posting. I didn’t realize there are as many women as men in the transfer portal. Plenty of ladies to rebuild a team quickly if we can recruit the right ones.

Maryland is down to one returning player, who is injured. Pre season ranked number 4 In the nation.

How much of the new Ubben is set aside for the women?

Coach Irvin off to Mississippi State. Huge loss for Chicago recruiting. Hopefully Jackson still comes to campus this fall.

Is there any chance former Danville Schlarman star, Anaya Peoples, would return home to play for the Illini? Would she be a starter on this team or a role player off the bench? Anyone in the know on this one?

There is a connection. Anaya's high school team mate (Capria Brown) played for Green at Dayton.

Supposed to be a Dayton all-conference player here for the weekend, but I didn’t catch a name. Possibly Makira Cook.

The roster has been updated . . . Nye (heading to Alabama) has been removed and Cook has been added. Amusan, Brown, Peebles, Porter and Rembert are still listed on the roster. Perhaps they are considering staying and playing for Coach Green.

FYI Cook was rated as the #82 player coming out of high school by Prospect Nation. Seems like she has delivered each year in the Atlantic 10 under Coach Green. Hope she can make the transition from a solid mid-major to Big Ten conference play.

She scored 21 against us earlier this year.

I am digging the excitement around the women's Basketball program. I think we are a sleeping Giant. Shout out to JW for his hire here. He has our programs top notch in the country now.

If we can get this Basketball Ball team on the winning side if things too, our AD hire is 6 yrs ago is one for the ages. ( that is assuming that the Football team continues to improve)

Yes, against an Illini team that turned out to be dead last in the Big Ten with an overall record of 7-20 (1 win being in-conference).

Against better teams than the Illini, if we look at this years NCAA women's tourney -

UGA was sixth in SEC; overall 20-9 record. DePaul was fourth in Big East; overall 22-10 record.

Decent showings in the A-10 Tournament -

UMass-Amherst third in A-10; 26-6 overall. VCU fourth in A-10; 15-11 overall.

Florida fourth in SEC; overall 21-10. Illinois St. fourth in MVC; 19-13 overall; MVC Tourney Champs.

Mississippi St. tenth in SEC; overall 15-14.

Purdue ninth in Big Ten; overall 16-14.

Duke tenth in ACC; overall 17-13.

This are just selective showings where she did score in double digits against teams that are arguable, if not outright, better than the Illini in the 2021-2022 season.

Matchups like Toledo who would go on to win the MAC with the cushion of three games (26-5 overall; arguably was snubbed of NCAA bid with that record; bowed out in NITW Quarterfinals) she was cold as ice. Similar cases against the better A-10 clubs like Rhode Island and Fordham.
