Could make sense. She will be a junior next year and was behind four other guards this year. All of those guards will likely be back next year and three the following year. With two new freshmen guards coming in there won't be a lot of playing time for her. With a 15 player roster there will likely be attrition each year. It doesn't help that the entire coaching staff that recruited her is now gone.
Yeah I agree, she will get a starting spot at a place not so loaded and shine.

Not one of the players I thought might be leaving. She started the first 11 games of the season, but saw her playing time drop to single digits until the last couple of games when we were short-handed due to injuries. If Green is holding post-season evaluations with players in the near future we may see more reports of players electing to play elsewhere.

Dewey's left her meetting wanting. Not sure if she has made a decision.

What a difference a day makes....go from one open spot to two scholarships open. We are real strong at the 1-3 spots next season and will have depth. Think we need to attack the front court and add two bodies. If anyone else moves on than we go after top talent at any position we can land.

You can diss the Big Ten in men's hoops -- but Big Ten looking good on the women's side. Though today is a big day. Maryland hopefully beats Notre Dame this morning and then Ohio State underdog later. And I can honestly say that I have spent the last 30-plus years rooting incredibly hard against Iowa in football and basketball, but Caitlin Clark and this Iowa women's team is literally the first Iowa team I have actually enjoyed watching play and rooted for (even if Clark whines way too much for calls).

And as I type this, Maryland is falling apart vs. Notre Dame. So maybe the Big Ten will be just as bad in women's hoops.

Kinda cool Jaden Ivey's mom coaching ND.

Sounds like someone that won't have much interest in team ball.
She may have had some bad experiences with roomies before. Or has some LD or concentration difficulties and wants as much peace and quiet as she can get. Or she might just be a prima donna. Up to SG and staff to drill down on it with her before making a decision.

That’s a possibility. I hadn’t considered that.( Now you made me feel like a thoughtless jerk.)

At one point South Carolina had 6’7”, 6’5” and 6’4” on the floor. We have a big mountain to climb.

Watched all games all day. Men’s basketball starting to resemble rugby. Women’s game, esp with Purdue and Clark, looking like the Bird and Magic era.

Instant starting Center if that happens and moves Bostic to PF. Low post player who can score and ideal fix if looking for one year player.

I'm curious what should give us confidence that Camille Hobby would have such a positive impact on our performance next year.

I believe our goal is to improve our front-court depth from what we had this year. Based on what I saw of her in extended highlights from NC State's 2023 tournament loss to Princeton (she played 18 minutes), I'm not convinced that Hobby is a meaningful improvement over our most used bench big, the graduating Geovana Lopes.

In those extended highlights, I see a slow-footed player who didn't move her feet well and was badly limited and exploited in key areas--rebounding, help defense in the paint, defending screens, and shot blocking. Perhaps Princeton's small ball lineup that was a horrible match-up for her. In Hobby's favor, she made a couple nice baskets and averaged 8 points, 4 rebounds in 21 minutes per game across the season to Lopes' 1/2/8. Hobby probably has more offensive game, and you may give value to her starting every 2022-23 game for NC State, a tournament team; yet watching Hobby in the tournament game, I don't see Hobby moving the needle over Lopes in what they give you on the floor.

Again, I'm curious what others think or see. I think I hope for better from the portal.

Camille Hobby, NC State #41
