In the game thread, people were very much concerned with the injuries based on the news from Tomi. Understandable. Someone commented on getting the injuries out of the way..

Say what you will, but I'm a big Dodgers fan. That's exactly what they did this season. They didn't make any moves at the trade deadline, knowing they had a bunch of guys coming back full strength for the playoff run.

Hopefully Ivisic isn't out long term..but I feel like his bro showed today that we're not lost without him.

I know he's rusty, but I think Stoj will be at his best in rock fights against MSU where Wagler will struggle like last years frosh (likely bc of uncalled fouls, but that's b10 basketball).

I don't see Ty's regular role on this team if Ben really has taken a step like he's seemed to.

Not concerned about Andreij in the least in this game. He was in uniform and played. Hasn't practiced fully in two months. It will take him some time but you can see his is a born scorer, and we are fine until he is fully healthy and conditioned. WAY more concerned about Tomi and hope BU gives a positive update. He is way more important to this team at this point, however Z is more than capable of helping us win against the tough teams coming up.

I know for sure +/- in a 22 minute sample isn’t going to be something that will keep Brad from playing one of his best 2-3 players on the whole roster

It’s the same reason we don’t freak out about 68% free throw shooting after 1 game or give up on Keaton Wagler after a single exhibition contest

Well, that was sloppy but fun. Was nice for AS to get some tick and game action. DM with another double double while not very noticeable. Amazing. A lot on this board need to recognize that BH is a player. What a difference from last year. KW…wow. He’s special. Finally KB. Great leader. Great performance. This is his team.
Tuesday will be a battle. Hoping we can tighten things up.
Overall, that was fun….other than Peacock. I’ve never been one to complain about the handful of streaming games, but Peacock needs to fix their production if they want to be in this space. Goodness.

Andrej played more than expected. He looked not terrible, but definitely a weak link on the team. I'm not sure he's playable against Texas Tech.
"Playable"? Seems a bit of an overstatement. Sure, he's probably not ready to play 30+ minutes, but he should be able to play 15 min or so. He was initially rusty tonight, but started to look better later in the game.

In a 43-pt win he finished with a -4. The offense was forced and the defense was middling. It's probably rust, but he's only got four days to clean things up. If he's playing this way against Texas Tech I'd be shocked if he gets the 22 minutes he got tonight.
Good take 42. I am the first to provide constructive criticism of Illini hoops teams, but tonight there was very little, maybe none, to be found. Stoyo played above the expectations I had for his debut after sitting out with a sprained MCL at a critical point in team development. He was not a superstar by any means, but if anyone expected that, it is a foolish take at this time.

I have had that MCL injury and it is not fun with which to deal. He needs much more time both physically as well as mentally before we see his value. But, he is the only player on this team that can bring his skillset. We will need him and I think he will produce.

Not to mention he got half his minutes in garbage time after Illinois was up 50 so he could find a rhythm. Not playable is a bad take.

He's going to have to be playable, are you joking? He is going to be an absolute requirement to have an outstanding, not just a good, season. He needs to be out there and he needs to play whether he's rusty or not. He has to just play through it against great competition. That's the peril of scheduling great teams so early in the year. Some guys are ready and some aren't.

Well our offense should be ranked well! Nice to get Andre some playing time. Kylan, Big Z, Wagler, & Mirk with good games.
