Lieb looked pretty good! He definitely can play! As soon as he gets size watch out! He's gonna leap frog Hamlin I believe! Looked good to me and had great touch with some moves.
I agree, and he has at least 4 years of eligibility left after this season. I don't expect him to see many minutes once conference season rolls around.

Am i reading the stat line correctly that Frazier fouled out?
I didn't watch the game but it sure looks like he did. I know it's only the first game and as I said, I didn't watch the game but Frazier's line doesn't look very good. Perhaps he was playing solid D.

If anyone has figured out the link to stream a replay on Fox sports, it would be much appreciated. They have the Nebraska game up, but not the beloved.

Isn’t Hamlin rehabbing an injury too? Hand I think. He looked bigger, too, I think. Don’t see him getting much time on the floor with this bunch, tho.

A true national championship contender at U of I. It’s been far too long(2005)...

It’s a great feeling. Very excited about this team!!

I absolutely loved the intensity and energy on defense to start the game. They do a great job of making the other team uncomfortable and then finishing with a rebound. I love how many guys were crashing the glass. Come a long way from a couple years ago when we watched the other team offensive rebound at will.
Come on, the Groce strategy to run away from offensive rebounds was ground breaking! It worked every time.

Offense was much better than what I had expected for the first game of the season....and the defense wasn't too shabby either.

Would like to have seen more out of Hawkins but was pleasantly surprised with Lieb.

So much to like and really can’t think of any negatives. Don’t expect the Chicago St game to tell us much. Hopefully Ohio can be better competition. Looking at their roster, it seems like they might be. Return 3 of 4 of their best players statistically and have a big body transfer from James Madison (not Kofi big, but good size). The 3 newcomers did about all you could ask for in this game. Hopefully see more of the same against Ohio because it is those 3 that will make the difference between Illini being a very good team and a great one.

I totally missed Hamlin playing at all. Box score indicates a Club Trillion appearance, but I'll take that as a good sign that he got any PT at all.

FT shots look really smooth. And he played with some tenacity.

Agree. 13 minutes, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, and 5 points. If you figure a 30 minute time frame, 8 rebounds, 4 assist, and 10 points. Agree not great competition, but looked pretty comfortable.

Couldn't see game. Just watched highlights. Regarding AM: Good Lord. Where's that GIF of Homer Simpson drooling as he contemplates donuts?

Loved how we played. Was encouraged as mentioned by JG and CH.
My only disappointment was we had 2 guys out I am dying to see play in BBV and especailly Hutch. I hope they get well soon.

Just watched the game on DVR, read the in-game thread and this thread. Fun game and what appears to be a really exciting team. With that being said, let’s win a few more games against teams not ranked below 250 before we anoint this team better than 2005 or 1989 and favorites to win the NCAA title.
