I think players committing to position coaches is significantly less of a thing, if it ever was a big thing.

Players (I mean the big-time ones who you'd really care about decommitting) are committing to $$$.

This is mercenary pro ball now.
I hope that’s true. And wouldn’t those recruits have known that there is a very good chance of Henry and Miller being out after this season? Either they are OK with that or they made a very risky choice. Also it’s unlikely they’d follow them to what will be a lesser job.

Fire Henry and fire Miller despite getting commitments from the #1 JC DB in the country and a top 3 JC O-Lineman in the country......good luck with that.

I can't imagine a defensive back committing with no defensive coordinator involvement and I can't imagine an offensive lineman committing without knowing who's coaching the unit.
Losing juco commits would be tough but idt we really know why they committed. If Bret fires Bart and some guys leave then that’s just something we’ll have to deal with. But, it’s pretty clear that the oline is struggling and we’re losing some commits and battles. Two years ago we had Andrew Dennis (or some name like that) who was a 4-star IOL with offers from MSU PSU and Clemson who then flipped to MSU. We’re struggling in other OT and IOL recruitment battles (which prevents us from building up HS recruits) and our oline has a hard time w protecting Luke and setting up lanes for RBs. At a minimum moving on from Miller is the right move.

Agree. But fans love firing coaches when their expectations aren’t met.
Just seems crazy to fire a coach after getting 8 wins.

I typically agree with this notion, but in this case it seems crystal clear the AH lacks that certain sumthin' sumthin' that a really big-time creative defensive mind doesn't, and which probably would have meant a W vs Wisconsin at the very least and maybe even a W vs Warshington.

Why did it take 11 and half games to bring some heat ? lol. I’m sure he was but gotta believe he was strongly influenced at half time.

Happy the Seniors go out with a W. Now changes must occur. This team was too inconsistent across the board. If it can be done at Indiana, it can be done in Champaign. It has to start from the top.

Good perseverance in a difficult conditions. Kudos to the defense creating three turnovers. Wasn't Altmyer's best performance nor Lunney's.

I'm not disappointed. Back-to-back seasons with at least 8 wins. I remember all of those terrible seasons between 2002 and 2021. Great job, team and coaching staff.

After the first two drives, NW was limited to 125 yards of offense. That was not on my Bingo card. For all the trouble in that defensive unit, kudos for finishing relatively strong.

8 wins hits the consensus expectation for the season, even if the losses were ugly. This team was uber frustrating at times and did not completely live up to preseason rankings, but outside of the Madison debacle, handled the teams they were supposed to beat. So grateful to be slightly disappointed in getting 8 wins and a decent bowl game. The floor of the program has been lifted tremendously under Coach B.

And now, it looks like the Duke win could be over a team who makes the CFP. Just a strange season all around.
