You've apparently watched a different QB than I've watched all year.He has no pocket presence, he has continually overthrown recievers and made bad decisions(via the interception into double coverage)Paddock steps into Pocket, reads defenses better(via the TD Pass to Williams, looking off Corner that went to cover Washington, opening up middle of the field)Go with the "Hot Hand". Paddock is "the Man "

Dude it was literally 3 plays what hot hand is that? The smallest sample size you can imagine. Who is to say Altmyer couldn't have made those same throw? Altmyer is 5th in the conference in passing yard and 4th in completion percentage. He's also been sacked 10 more times than any other QB in the conference and that's not his fault. Take out the one bad game against PSU and he is right on line with all the other top QBs in terms of interceptions too.
He also led the country in interceptions at one time. Turnovers related to him are numerous. It just about cancels out the good things he does. He's got to get that stuff under control going forward. Some of those can be definitely attributed to poor pocket awareness. Just get rid of the damn ball, you can't always make a play. He has to get quicker on his thinking process to be the qb we need.

some are on awareness but how many are on the receiver?

Benching Luke is absurd. But the sacks issue is real. He has to learn to get rid of the ball to avoid those. Ironically, this would drop his completion percentage but would be very helpful to the team.

Of all the QB issues, this would seem to be one of the most fixable. Am I wrong?

it is most likely fixable and probably more a function of more experience
for reasons we havent been told, they just dont want him throwing 25 yards downfield right now

I love this logic of changing plays. Why on earth would you pick 12 plays but then only change 6 of them? Why not change all 12..or, for that matter, change all roughly 180 plays in the game? Everybody should be undefeated using this method. Well...except for Beckman. He would have somehow screwed it up.

I stand by what I said the last time we brought this up: LA is a developing quarterback. He needs time to get the decision making down but the raw talent is clearly there. You have him for 2 more years then probably 3 years of Petty. That’s the hope.

You sit Luke on the bench for a grad student who has 3 games of eligibility left on the roster in a losing season you have, at best, pissed off your next two QB’s in the succession plan. For nothing. And you’ve already damaged a bridge with Jacas in the process of all that. Some of that is sunk cost, but some of it is definitely avoided by not just letting it ride to see what Paddock can do.

This was fun. Paddock looked good in three plays, he’s also looked absolutely abysmal in a few. Throwing away the long-term plan for some what ifs is not a good plan.
Sorry if I missed it in a earlier thread but what bridge was damaged with Jacas?

Some people have an eye for the game. He might become an NFL qb but if he can read defenses on the field there are coaching opportunities for him
more likely he’ll be making big bucks selling life insurance, annuities , financial planning , et al at the family store (I assume the Wright’s still have the NM agency in town)

Only so much money to go around and Jacas had real SEC interest. Made the loyalty move by choosing to stay here and then we went and spent money that he felt he deserved to court Luke and Trey.

Yesterday was an up and down day for me. My local High school lost in the playoffs and i was down about that, then within an hour Illinois came back to beat Minnesota. So, in an hour i went from being really down to feeling pretty good. Weird.
Sounds like sports to me!

It's really hard for a first year starting QB to do that stuff without solid line play (which he hasn't had this year). WR room hasn't done him many favors either, adding the pressure to make plays. Despite that, he's statistically the best QB in the west by every almost every metric (yards, TDs, efficiency). He's gotten noticeably better after his worst game against Penn State.
