This game was very important in that it seals our regular season with sweetness, making it easier for us to step back and realize gratitude for what we have experienced.

Gratitude in life is often about remembering the past, remembering the heavy feeling of hardship, and relishing what you now hold in your hands. For Illini fans, the hardship has been mad real, and it lasted for a *very* long time.

Give thanks to a historical moment, still green with newness, where Illini football gives us dignity and enthusiasm and joy.

Give thanks to this new epoch of Illini athletics where the word ‘championship’ decorates conversations about both football and basketball.

Give thanks to the reality that, in football and in basketball, it is now our rivals - those other schools of the Big Ten - who swallow the lion’s share of bitterness.

Give thanks, give thanks, give thanks.
You just described my ex marriage ad hoc and my future hoc ad...................

most people don't plan to fail
they just fail to plan

how do you eat an elephant
one bite at a time

once a loosier
always a loosier

no matter where you go
there you are

what do you say to a deaf duck
hey deaf duck

This team will forever live in the hearts of Illini nation. Thank you Bret and the entire coaching staff for your tireless efforts. I'll never forget how the Brown twins breathed life back into our program. Thank you Sydney and thank you Chase for choosing to be Illini. Of course there are too many players to mention, but we had so many players that shined this season. Thank you to all of our players.

The 1983 team, late 80s and early 90s teams, the 2001 team, the 2007 team.....now the 2022 team. Let's keep it going. More to come in 2023......

It was a season of ups and downs as usual , but the distinctive difference this year is more ups and steady progression from year 1 of BB to a great turn around of year 2........,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,This won't make up for BB & families losses this last week to 10 days but it must feel good to see his program grow so much this year....
Pruman, thought of you the other night watching Stand Up Guys starting Al Pacino, Alan Arkin and, you guessed it, Mr Sunshine himself Christopher Walken.

Bielema just made an interesting comment on the radio postgame. To paraphrase, last year at this time everyone was thinking about how close we came to making a bowl. This year everyone is thinking about how close we came to winning the B1G West. When you look at it that way, it really drives home how massive a difference it is between those two things.

As long as this isn't the high point. A lot was in our favor to make the BTT game and to win 10 games this year. Iowa, Wisky,, and Purdue were all down and we avoided PSU and OSU. Gotta keep grinding and staying hungry. What I love about BB is that he will significantly improve our Offensive and Defensive lines. We should have really strong running games moving forward.

I feel like with this level of competence on the staff, we will have down years, but they'll be 5 win seasons, not 1 win seasons. Just avoid a return to doormat status

For those older than me did we recruit Fitz whe he played for Providence. I remember Providence being a dynasty back in the day

He is a good coach but NW had a awful season
He didn't play for Providence, he played at Orland Park - Carl Sandburg

My guess as to Patsy Fitz's postgame comments:

"We out gained them, we were the better team, we had a terrific game plan, genius really, but those little mf-ers can't execute well enough. If they would have executed, we win this going away. I'm receiving a lot of phone calls from NFL teams and places like Alabama and Notre Dame, but I think it's great here in Evanston."

(This is off-topic, but I heard that is a sore subject. He wanted to play for the Illini, but we didn't offer. Or so the story goes.)

good movie......Alan Arkin has a quirky personality .....I like it........he was funny as the shrink in Grosse Point Blank
Have always liked Alan Arkin. And he’s been in at least two “Sunshine” movies — Little Miss Sunshine (great in it) and Sunshine Cleaners. And to stay on subject, sun is really shining on the Illini football program.
