View attachment 21715I have the receipts of the individuals that questioned this team two weeks ago and thought we’d struggle against the dorks in Evanston.Excellent season and I would love love love to hear from @SAVAGE56OL and others
Excuse me for having doubts after seeing inconsistency in should be W games in Indiana and Michigan state.
I'm sorry I wasnt willing to be as arrogant as you.

Now that's more like it!! Just a total beatdown in all phases. Total domination and we completely emasculated those little wussy kittens at their pathetic little high school football field ("Chicago's team"? lmao 😭 riiiight haha.

I can't thank Coach Bielema, his staff and all our players (especially the Brown brothers) for this incredibly memorable season and its not over yet. Hope we can make a statement in a decent to good bowl game. We're only in year 2 of the Bielema era and if you take a look at the other inner turmoil / drama/ terrible contracts that a number of these Big Ten programs have put themselves in, I think we are in really good shape to be quite good to dare I say even great for future years.

As someone who has had to endure garbage Illinois football 95% of my life I will take 8-4 all day.
Yeah, those losses sucked, but my goodness let's not forget who we've been. Any bowl game is better than what we've had!
Of course everyone wants a better record, but I'll take 7+ wins and smile all day.

They had more total plays (80 - 54), total yards (321 - 296), first downs (22 - 16), and ToP (33:21 - 26:39).

Chase Brown is held to 61 yards.

If you told me that; I would think we lost. Yet we win 41 - 3. Transition defense in football?

Basically, our defense kept our own offense off the field.

The winning season is great... going to a good bowl game is great... but there is something even better. The Illini football program has now fully accomplished raising our honest expectations and their vision for this program and its future.

This past season has lifted our hopes and spirits... just like Brad and Ayo and friends did with elevating the basketball program a few years ago.

Success is fun. It can also be contagious. To win big, you first have to dream big. And then turn those dreams into real life currency.

The Large Ten football bluebloods go into each season expecting to win Championships. And now thanks to hard work and dedication, there’s new kids from The Prairielands who’s got those same aspirations.

The fact of the matter is that you could make this statement whether you are 20 or 80. With few exceptions we've struggled a lot since the war.

I'm over-the-moon with this team and the job the coaching staff has done/is doing. 8-4 exceeds my wildest expectations for this season. My last Illini Bowl game attendance was the 2008 Rose Bowl. You'll find me wherever this team is playing their bowl game at this December/January.

Our team should be highly thought of by the bowls. We took Michigan to the wire (and were robbed of the win). We were 5 -1 against B1G West Division foes and lost our one division game by 7 points (the TD Purdue scored the play after the phantom pass interference call). The B1G West Champs were 4 - 2 against division foes and lost their two games (Iowa, Wisc.) by 22 points total. The Illini had the B1G West's largest point differential in conference games at +84 (Minny was next at +47, then Purdue at +11!!!).

With Michigan headed to the CFP, the Illini should be no worse than the #4 B1G team for the B1G bowl tie-ins. I'm guessing: Michigan to the CFP, OSU to the Rose Bowl, Penn St. to the Orange Bowl (at large). Then, EITHER, Purdue to the Citrus Bowl (Orlando Jan 2nd) and Illini to the ReliaQuest Bowl (Tampa Jan. 2nd), OR, vice versa (if Purdue gets destroyed by common opponent Michigan).

Whatever the bowl assignments outcome, congratulations Illini Football Team and Staff!

Umm, does somebody want to check me on this? I believe this was the fewest points we've allowed in a season since 1965?

Bowl game pending, I guess.
We had some great defenses in the early 90’s when we also had fewer games on the schedule ( I remember 1992 or 1993 we had the nations’s top ranked defense with Rice, Hardy, Howard and Holocek). Not sure if we allowed fewer points then though.

This is a great graphic to illustrate just how grateful I am to have BB running the show.

In the 8 seasons prior to BB, IL had 4 (almost 5) seasons of a -150 point differential. Any way you slice it, that’s just terrible. And to see him turn it to almost even in year 1 and over +150 in year 2. That’s nuts. And it’s all on him getting the right people in place and getting the most out of what he was given (which was better than most would give Lovie credit for, including myself).

I’m disappointed we let a west title slip through our fingers. But man, I don’t think anyone can look at what’s happening and not call it a success compared to where we were. I truly hope it’s for the long haul, but in the meantime, enjoy the ride! Let’s go bowling and win another 🏆

It has been a memorable season and can hope for better ones in the future. A great year for all outgoing players to be proud of and those that will take over. Today The Defense won the game! Coach Walters and secondary Coach Aaron, tremendous job. O.C. Looney, not! He left his playbook at U.T.S.A. but found a dust covered copy of plays scrawled by Coach Gary Moeller and thought to use them. I sure hope B.B. tells him to trash can it right away. GREAT SEASON student athletes. Lets win 1 more!!

It's been an interesting season. I learned some new football concepts:

*Faking injuries to get extra timeouts.
*The pick play or blocking defensive backs to get receivers open before a pass is thrown. Only certain teams can do this.
*Disconcerting signals. I used to do something like this to my older sister when we were kids and she was counting something.

This season can be summed up in these words. Illinois football is back. Congrats to these kids and their coaches.

The fact that there’s a shred of disappointment at what could’ve been during an 8-4 season shows how the tides are turning for this program.
Well, it shows how the tides are turning with respect to fan expectations. We had the same feeling after the 1983/1984 season and after the 2001/2002 season and after the 2007/2008 season and... well... you know.

Having said that, I do feel better about Bielema than what White, Turner, or Zook gave us.

Great season all in all- but “what could have been” playing n the BT Championship game would have been special

Our performance against Michigan just makes the MSU and Purdue games even more painful- we’re a good team, we just didn’t play like it for two games at home when it mattered - that will sting

But the future is bright!
